Candelabra, baskets of pink
carnations, snapdragons and
white mums were the setting for
a pretty wedding of Brenda
lyfarie Skinner and Jacob. Hovius
Jr., at Elimville United Church.
The bride's parents are Mr,
and Mrs. Ross Skinner, R.R. 1,
Centralia and the groom is the
son of Mr. & Mrs. Jacob liovius
Sr, of R.R4, liensall,
The double ring ceremony took
place November 27 with Rev, S.
Miner officiating,
Mrs, Philip Johns performed
the wedding music and the
soloist, Elaine Johns sang "0
Perfect Love."
The bride, escorted by her
father, wore a gown of white
lagoda crepe with empire
waistline, full sleeves and wide
cuffs. The mandarin collar and
bottom of the skirt, which fell into
a full train, were trimmed with
appliqued daisies, The shoulder
length veil was scalloped and
gathered to a headpiece of white
lace petals and seed pearls, She
carried a white Bible crested
with a pink and white orchid,
white stephanotis and pink
rosebuds,
Bridal attendants, Mary
Prance, Kay Hovius, sister of the
groom, and Susan Parsons,
cousin of the bride, were gowned
in floor length dresses of hot pink
polyester crepe styled similarly
to the bride's. They wore tiny
pink rosebuds in their hair and
carried white fur muffs accented
with deep pink rosebuds. Twin
brother and sister of the bride
were ring bearer and flower girl.
The latter was gowned similarly
to the other bridal attendants,
and the former wore a black suit
with pink shirt of the same
material as the bridesmaid's
dresses.
Best man was Al Weiberg.
Ushers were Larry Skinner,
brother of the bride, and Albert
Hovius, brother of the groom.
The wedding dinner was served
in the church parlors and a
reception was held later at
Exeter Legion Hall.
For travelling to the Southern
Stales, the bride wore a turquoise
pantsuit ensemble trimmed with
matching lace with black ac-
cessories.
The couple will reside at R.R. 1
Hensall on No. IV Highway,
Prior to her marriage the bride
was honored at several showers
hosted by Miss Mary Prance;
cousins, by Susan Parsons and
Shirley Wilkinson; relatives, by
Mrs. Frances Kints, and co-
workers at Pennington's where
the bride was employed,
A community shower was also
held at Elimville church parlors,

Against a background of
candlelabra, baskets of pink and
white mums and gladioli in Dash-
wood Zion Lutheran Church, Iris
Kathryne Marie Becker and
Michael John Gravel were united
in marriage by the Reverend
E,E. Steinman, November 27,
1971.
Ther parents are Mr. and Mrs.
Valentine L. Becker, Dashwood,
and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Gravel,
Hanmer.
While Miss Helen Nadiger
played the wedding music, the
bride was escorted down the aisle
by her father, She wore a logoda
empired styled gown, Guipure
lace trimmed the houltant
sleeves, the hemline of the skirt
and the soft flowing train which
fell from the waist. Her cathedral
veil of silk illusion was held by a
Coral headpiece and she carried a
bouquet of white cymbidum
orchids, pink roses, baby's
breath and ivy.
Ginny Parr, Toronto, was maid
of honor , while Valerie Syer and
Betty Gravel, sister of the groom,
were bridesmaids. The bride's
goddaughter, Elizabeth Irwin
was junior bridesmaid.
They wore empire gowns of
deep purple velvet with bodices
interlaid with mauve chiffon.
Tiny rosebuds in their hair
complemented their outfits and
their bouquets were miniature
mauve carnations intertwined
with ivy.
Mrs. Mary Ann Desjardine,
Guelph, was the soloist.
Larry Webster was best man;
Paul Cleator and Fred Rut
ushered the guests. Brother of the
groom, Martin Gravel, was
junior usher.
After a reception at the Dash-
wood Community Centre the
newly-weds left on a honeymoon
to the Eastern States the bride
wearing a blue and white plaid
hooded dress with dark brown
accessories.
The bride was previously
employedwith the City of Toronto
in the Department of Public
Health Nursing, and the groom is
presently employed as a health
inspector with the Peterborough
County-City Health Unit.
They will reside at 453 Mont-
calm Drive, Peterborough.
The bride was feted to several
showers prior to her wedding.
They were hosted by former
roommate Ginny Parr and Mrs.
J.M, Parr; Nancy Diane and
Nancy Becker; and the staff of
Montrose Public School in
Toronto,
Iris and Michael were also
given a presentation by the
Peterborough County-City Health
Unit.

Dianne E. Breen, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Breen,
Centralia, and Kenneth R.
Clarke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy
Clarke, R R 3, Zurich, were
united in marriage at Centralia
United Church, November 27,
1971. Reverend John Beaton
performed the ceremony against
a background of baskets of pink
and white mums and carnations
and pink candles.
Mrs. Florence Hodgins played
the wedding music and ac-
companied the soloist, Robert
Lammie.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a gown
fashioned from crystal peau with
guipure ribboned lace trimming
the neckline, bodice, sleeves and
skirt, The same lace outlined the
chapel length detachable train
and the tiered scalloped French
illusion veil was held by a double
lace crown. Her flowers were
baby pink roses, carnations and
starflowers with white velvet
streamers.
Mary Lou Breen and Dianne
Clarke, the bridal attendants,
wore gowns of deep purple velvet
and lavender chiffon.
The best man was Richard
Thiel, and Ron Clarke and Bruce
Breen were ushers,
After the reception held at
Crediton Community Centre, the
bride changed to a navy and

Mary Ellen Chapel, Grand Bend,
Friday evening., December 3,
1971, Rev. Hugh Wilson officiated
at the candle light ceremony.
