Persona Is Mr. & Mrs, Alf Tilley celebrated their 93rd wedding anniversary Sunday. They received many cards of congratulations from relatives and friends. Chris Wein celebrated his 92nd birthday December 1. He has lived all his life in Stephen Township, and for many years operated the farm now occupied by Hubert Vincent. He and Mrs. Wein make their home with their daughter Mrs. Joe Varley. Mr. Wein continues to be active and in good health. Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Hey were in Detroit with Mr. & Mrs. Austin Hey for the American thanksgiving. Eight people surprised Mrs. Cliff Brock last Tuesday evening on the occasion of her birthday. Present for the celebration were Mrs. Gordon Slaght, Mrs, Jack McDermott, Mrs. Lloyd Gaiser, Mrs. Emerson Wein, Mrs. Mark Whitney, Mrs. Bob Bushfield and her daughter-in-law Donna and Dianne Brock. By MRS. J. TEMPLEMAN The historical research and current events meeting of the Staffa Womens Institute was held in the township hall Wednesday evening. The president, Mrs. John Miller presided and 15 members answered the roll call with a written interesting memory for the Tweedsmuir history. A letter was read from the Institute's adopted child and a news letter from Spruce Lodge. The christmas meeting date has been changed to December H. Mrs. Ed Chappel gave reports on the District Director's banquet and the meeting at Carlingford and the area convention. Mrs. Robert Parsons presented an interesting paper on the motto, "The glory of the home is hospitality." Mrs, Cindy Glanville chose as her topic the history of the former S.S. No. 4 Hibbert school section. She also gave two readings, "The good old days" and "Methuselah." A contest was enjoyed on "buttons". Lunch served by the hostesses, Mrs. John Tem- pleman, Mrs. Ray MacDonald and Mrs. Ruby Reed. 4-H achievement day The 4-H Homemaking club achievement day for the club "Featuring Fruit" was held Saturday at Mitchell District High School with 11 clubs par- ticipating. Staffa No. 1 club, whose leaders are Mrs. Spencer Jeffery and Mrs. Wm. Butson ,set up an exhibi t on "Three meals a day with fruit" ; Teresa Miller com- menting. Elaine Powe of St. Catharines and Marie Powe of Waterloo were weekend visitors with their parents. Mrs. W. Palmer of St. Catharines was a weekend visitor with her father and brother, George and Jack Hepburn. U.C.W. Christmas meeting will be held in the schoolroom of the church Thursday evening. Visitors at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Morgan were Mr. & Mrs. Mervin Erb and Brent of Ridgetown for the weekend; Mr. & Mrs. Norman Morgan and family of Melbourne visited with the Morgans, Sunday. Mrs. S. Tasko of Watford, who was spending a few days at the home of her son and daughter-in- law, Mr. & Mrs. L. Tasko was a visitor Tuesday of last week with Mr, & Mrs. S. Molnar.
