C.W.L. work through the years.
Mrs. L. Howard, the London
Diocesan president, was guest
speaker. She spoke of the value of
an active Christian wornens
organization in today's fast
moving world. We must take time
to listen to the problems of our
children, youth and elderly, she
said. It must begin in our own
home by making it a happy place
in which to live.
Entertainment was provided
by Vincent Glaab on his ac-
cordion , and Mike McCann,
Eugene Hartman and Dave
Regier on their guitars.
Five little girls, Briget Ryan,
Laurie O'Brien, Jane Sullivan,
Bonnie Breen and Carol Regier
sang songs of the 70's.
A group of C.W.L. members
dressed in centennial gowns sang
songs of the 20's.
A centennial cake with 50
candles was presented. Lunch
was served and old acquaintances
renewed.
Mt. Carmel CWL 50th
•

Sunday afternoon about 100
ladies gathered in Mt. Carmel to
celebrate 50 years as a C.W.L.
organization. Benediction was
celebrated by Father J. Mooney,
Eight charter members of 1921
and thirteen past presidents
attended. The original president
of 1921, Mrs. Frank Coughlin,
now of London told of what it was
like in those days. She said there
were 36 members in 1921.
Membership now is 89.
Trivitt A,C.W met Monday
evening at the Parish Hal] with
Mrs. Ann Doidge presiding.
Meeting was opened with prayers
led by Mrs. A. Carter and annual
reports were given for the past
year.
The election of officers for
1972 was conducted by Rev, Geo.
Anderson which resulted as
follows; president, Mrs. A,
Doidge; vice-pres., Mrs. Geo.
Rether Sr.; secretary, Mrs. Allan
Elston; treasurer, Mrs. Jim
Potter.
Lunch was served by Mrs. W.
Middleton, Mrs. Jobson and Mrs.
Rether.
Tables for novelties, toys,
sewing, baking, farm produce,
fish pond, and touch & take were
arranged for the Christmas
Couple wed
at Forest UC
A candlelight wedding service
was solemnized at Forest United
Church Saturday when Penelope
Somes, daughter of Mr. & Mrs.
Garret Somes, and Philip Little,
son of Mrs. Trellis Little, all of
Forest and the late Earl Little,
were united in marriage.
A reception was held later at
% the Forest Arena.
The young couple plan to reside
in Sarnia,

The charter members were
introduced by the president, Mrs.
Bill Regier. They received a
small gift and a corsage from the
League. The past presidents were
also given recognition and
received corsages. They took
part in a candle lighting
ceremony and each lit their
candle from the preceding
president from 1921 up to the
present year. The candles were
placed in a large candelabra
bazaar which will he held Friday
afternoon and evening of this
week.
Dance numbers were given by
Brenda Monteith and vocal solos
by Patrica Connon.
Friends surprise
Parkhill couple
A surprise party and dance was
held last Saturday evening at the
Parkhill Community Centre to
celebrate the Silver Wedding
Anniversary of Mr. & Mrs.
William 0. Siddall (the former
Florence McLeod) of Denfield
who were married November 30,
1946 in Parkhill, Ontario.
During the dance, the couple
were presented with many
beautiful gifts. Following a few
short speeches and the singing of
"For They Are Jolly Good
Fellows", the dance continued
and lunch was served.
Special guests present were
members of the couple's wedding
party: Mrs. Dorothy Trevithick,
of Clandeboye, Mrs. Hazel Brood,
Hamilton, Mrs. Eleanor Ardiel of
London, Mr. Shirley Siddall,
Denfield, and David McLeod Jr.
of Parkhill. Also present was
Mrs. Siddal's father, David
McLeod Sr. of Ailsa Craig.
The couple have four children,
Mrs. Kenneth (Elizabeth) Lewis,
Bill Jr„ LeRoy, Kimberly, and
one grand child Suzanne Lewis.

Don Gifford, brother of the
bride, and Tony Charrette, the
groom's brother, . ushered the
guests.
After the reception, held at the
Zurich Community Centre, the
couple left for a honeymoon in
Montreal, the bride wearing a
powder blue pant suit with black
accessories.
Mr. and Mrs. Charrette have
taken up residence in Hensall.
Prior to the wedding Nancy
was honored at five showers
given by Mrs. Rose Durand who
hosted a community party at St.
Peter's Church, the bride's co-
employees at London Life
insurance Co.; Mrs. Bob
Baynliam ; Elaine Gould, and
Sheila Willett.
