Those concerned regarding the
merits of continued faithful
service might find en-
couragement in the report of a
man who retired with a com-
fortable fortune of $60,000 after 30
years of devotion to duty.
He had amassed this fortune
through courage, enterprise,
initiative, attention to duty, faith-
fulness, efficiency and careful
investment of his savings, and
the death of an uncle who left him
$59,999.50.
Clergymen concerned with
inadequate collections might give
some thought to the minister who
began his sermon one Sunday like
this: "There is a certain man
among us today who is flirting
with another man's wife and
unless he puts five dollars in the
collection plate, his name will be
read from the pulpit."
When-he checked the collection
he found 15 five-dollar bills and a
two-dollar bill with this note
attached: "Will pay the balance
on pay day."

can't afford to sell mouldy pies to
their customers. It's economical
suicide because word of such
instances spreads too quickly in
small communities.
The same holds true for all
merchants, They just can't afford
the bad publicity which is created
by word of mouth from
dissatisfied customers.
This isn't suggesting they don't
sell faulty merchandise or items
that don't live up to the
customers' satisfaction. They
don't make the goods and in this
day and age, workmanship often
leaves a great deal to be desired.
Ilowever, merchants in small
communities more readily stand
behind the products which they
sell, and one only has to read the
"Sound Off" type columns in
daily newspapers to realize the
satisfaction this provides
customers.
Shopping at home also provides
local jobs and keeps the economy
buoyant.

United church
At the Sunday morning Church
service in the United Church the
junior Sunday School pupils
assisted Rev, Dobson with the
worship.
Debbie Holt read the old
testament lesson and Pamela
Jackson read the new testament
lesson.
Tommy Thomas and Randy
Lovie assisted with the receiving
of the offering.
The junior choir sang "Its a
Long Road to Freedom."
The Sunday School staff hopes
to continue this idea the last
Sunday of each month, with the
hope of training the pupils to their
responsibilities in the church.
