On a cold and rainy day in
November
We stood by an open grave
And watched as they buried our
loved ones
We'd have given our lives to save.
They would not wish for sorrow
Nor would they wish for tears
Just to be remembered
By us in future years.
— Sadly missed by Clarence,

A loving thought we give;

But in our hearts still live.

A delegation of eight student
council representatives from all
Middlesex County secondary
schools has asked the county
Board of Education to reconsider
and change its policy governing
student fund raising through the
sale of merchandise. The
delegation appeared and
presented its case at this week's
regular Board meeting.
Spokesmen Joe Neves of
Strathroy D.C.I. and Bill Wilson
of Medway High School told the
Board that student-operated
activities need money that can be
raised through door-to-door sales
campaigns, a method not now
permitted by Board policy.
Following presentation of the
well-prepared brief, the students
answered questions asked by
school trustees, In response to a
suggestion that the Board might
consider making a grant to
student councils, the young
people said they wanted to raise
the money themselves through
their own efforts.
The board in committee later
considered the brief and asked its
administrative staff to bring in a
recommended policy revision at
the next meeting.
In other business the board
approved the hiring of a technical
director for the new technical
department that will open at
Medway High School in Sep-
tember 1972. The board also
ratified the appointment of John
Barron, currently head of the
music department at West-
minster Secondary School in
London, as Music Consultant for
County schools. Both ap-
pointments are to take effect
January 1, 1972.
The board also approved the
hiring of a junior assistant to the
supervisor of plant operations.
The assistant will help to ex-
pedite regular maintenance
work, thereby permitting the
plant supervisor to devote more
time to the growing demands in
matters of building construction
and alterations.
Finally, among reports to the
Board, was a presentation by
Curriculm Assistant David Hicks
who told trustees that teachers of
grades 7, 8, 9 and 10 history in
elementary and secondary
