lead dart loop
Competition remains keen in
the Exeter Legion mixed dart
league with the Sharpshooters
leading the league by a single
point.
The Sharpshooters have a point
total of 25 while the Late Niters
and B J's are all even in second
spot with 24 points apiece. The
Doublers are fourth with 22
points.
Jake Lindenfield recorded a
score of 156 to move ahead in the
top score department for the
men. The ladies high score
remains at 140 with Sue Edginton
and Anita Hunter sharing honors.
In the number of games won
Alex Jackson leads the men with
an even dozen wins while Barb
Hearn has nine wins, best for the
ladies.

female curlers
Open house was held by the
Exeter ladies' curling club with
45 curlers from last year and 11
newcomers in attendance.
President Pauline Simmons
welcomed all members, new and
old alike and Edna Busche gave a
picture demonstration on the
fundamentals of curling.
Curling was demonstrated on
the ice with one rink composed of
Marg Murley, Janet Lovell,
Shirley Davidson and Pauline
Simmons opposing a foursome
made up by Agnes Bray, Pat
Ballantyne, Kay Hodgert, and
Beatrice Dawson.
The new curlers were given the
opportunity to throw a few rocks
under the guidance of ex-
perienced curlers.
The evening closed with a
delicious lunch being served by
1st five-president Sally Lou
Raymond and Doris Hackney.

Each ,Saturday is a bee hive of
activity at the arena as minor
hockey for the 1971.72 season has
started, The Pee Wees start the
morning off at 7:30 followed by
the Novicefrom 9 to 11,
The smallest players 4 tp 6 yrs.
old have the ice from 11 to 12 a,rn,
with the Mites from 12 to 1, From
1 to 3 the Pee Wee house league
and from 3 to 5 the Bantams.
There is no public skating on
Saturday afternoon but the public
is invited to skate from 8 to 10 on
Saturday night. Public skating
will be held each Sunday af-
ternoon from 2 to 4. After school
skating is on Wednesday and
Fridays from4 to 5,Season tickets
are on sale at the arena for this
after school skating for $2.00 or 15
cents for each session.
The Figure Skating Club has
the arena rented on Mondays
from 4 to 9 p.m. and again on
Tuesday from 4 to 8:30, Mem-
bershipis3i5, to date for figure skating
Shamrock hockey takes over on
Wednesday nights 7 to 10. Rec
League will be played Thursday
nights, anyone interested in
joining a team for Rec League
hockey, give me a call at the
ArPna 235-2833 players are
needed to form a fourth team.
The feature attraction on
Fridays is a Western Jr D hockey
game with the Jr. Hawks as host.
On Sunday nights we have the
Ausable hockey league, a
pleasing brand of hockey with no
admission charge. This then is a
general summary of the ac-
tivities at the arena for the winter
with hockey practice, girls
hockey and skating parties
sandwiched in between,
At the High School on Saturday
mornings we have ballet and
gymnastics. Classes for ballet
are filled but a few more
registrations can be accepted for
gymnastics.
On Monday and Wednesday
nights at 7:30 the badmintonclub
has the gym at the High School.
More members can be accepted
for badmintonso if you would like

The first Shamrock minor by a 3-2 count while Luean gained
a • 4-1 victory in . the midget
contest,
Steven Baynham, Brian Clarke
and Brad Taylor each scored, a
pair of goals to lead the Exeter
pee wees to their victory, Adding
single scores were Brian Horrell,
Darryl Preszcator, Bill Datars
and Paul Pooley.
Rick Freeman notched the lone
, Lucan score.
Brian Taylor's two goal effort
helped the Exeter bantam win
with Marty Martens tallying the
third goal. Scoring for ;Lucan
were Mike Wraith and Gerald
Moon.
Gary Isaac, l3ob Cornish, Jeff
Park and Mike Wraith scored for
Lucan in the midget game with
the lone Exeter goal coming from
the stick of Murray Parsons.
