Eleven girls and two leaders answered the roll call, "State five varieties of apples specifying one which is good for cooking and one which is good for eating." The president Lorraine Laing led the businessit was decided to have orchid covers for our books with black lettering. The next meeting sill be held September 27, Each group is to provide a fruit salad. Julie Ann Elliott gave a talk on melons, as did Kathy Douglas on blueberries, A display of dried fruits, including currants, raisins, apricots, peaches, ap- ples, prunes, pears and figs had been set up beforehand. There was also samples of canned figs, cantaloupes kiwis and different grades of fruits, using peaches as an example. Group I made a peach layer cake and Group II made rasp- ' berry bavarian. The hostess served lunch. CHURCH SERVICE Craig Kerslake and Janet Allen, Cromarty delegates to the Egmond and Frank Falconer. Gerald Dearing was the big winner with Dorset Horn sheep while Louis Emke of Clifford won with Oxford Downs and Lincolns. District exhibitors fared very well in most of the categories at last week's Exeter Fair, In the fruit department local exhibitor Vie Jeffrey walked off with the most first prizes with Fred McClymont of Varna a close second. John Kingma headed the vegetable section with Mrs, Thomas G. Hein right behind in second place. The major poultry winners were again from the Dashwood area with regular exhibitors Clifford Pepper and George Tiernan taking most of the first prizes, Earl Becker, also from Dashwood claimed several red ribbons. Ross Cottle and W. J. Turnbull swept all awards in the two hog divisions while in cattle the major winners were J. T. Van Presbyterian Youth Congress at Guelph, were in charge of the contemporary church service Sunday. Mr. Kerslake conducted the service and read the scrip- ture, a modern version from Matthew. Rev. Jarvis led in prayer followed by the Lord's Prayer, repeated in unison, using the New English Bible trail- sla Lion. The choir, with Mrs, G. Laing as organist, sang the Congress theme, Miss Allen gave the highlights of the addresses given at Congress and related some of their experiences while there, As a follow-up to this service, a contemporary communion service will be held next Sunday. PERSONALS Weekend visitors with Mr, & Mrs, Gordon Laing and Mrs. J. R. Jefferson were Mr. & Mrs. William Laidlaw and John of London. Mr. & Mrs. Chas. Lorraine Laing, Nancy Allen and Margaret Laing attended the Presbyterian Young People's Camp last weekend at Kintail. The Shroudlike winner was Tom Todd of Lucknow. Best in the rabbit show were entries by Howard Fletcher, Mrs. W. Scott and W. J. Dickey, Blanshard ceremony marks 80th birthday visited Saturday evening with Mrs. J. W. Humphrey of Chatham. Mr. & Mrs, Clare Hooper visited with Mr. & Mrs. George Taylor of Chatham Saturday evening. Mr. & Mrs, Art Grasby of St. Pauls were Saturday evening guests of Mr. & Mrs. Claire Sisson. Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Grasby, Linda and Debbie of Keswick spent the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Claire Sisson. Mr. & Mrs. Jim Connoy of St. Thomas were Thursday af- ternoon guests of Mr. & Mrs. Claire Sisson and Fred Fetch. By MRS. G.
