calves, ponies at fciir

The number of Exeter and
South Huron 4-H clubs taking
part in the Exeter Fall Fair with
their projects and displays has
Dobbs Motors Ltd. reached an all-time high.
This year a total of six clubs
will be in action, including two
brand new ones and another that
was back in 1970 after an absence
of close to 20 years.
Both of the new clubs have a
large membership with the
Exeter Agricultural Society
feeder calf club having 19
members that will be showing
calves and having them sold later
Saturday afternoon,
A total of 27 area boys and girls
are participating in the Exeter 4-
H horse and pony club, with
another seven youngsters listed
as pre-4-H members,

On Saturday morning mem-
bers of the feeder calf club will
have their calves picked up by
truck and taken to the Hensall
sales arena to be weighed and
returned to the fairgrounds to be
judged.
Following the judging an
auction sale will be held at about
4 p,m. The calves will be sold at
the Hensall weight with a three
percent allowance for shrinkage,
All members are asked to have
their calves tied with a suitable
rope halter following the sale.
The calves are to be cleaned and
ready for pickup by 8:30 Satur-
day morning.

Gals held their second meeting at
the home of Mrs. McLean. The
president Jill McLellan looked
over cover samples and skit
suggestions. Mrs. McLean talked
about milk and health.
Lunch was served which was
fish chowder, milk and yogurt.
