It is with much pleasure that

and directors of the Exeter
Agricultural Society. May we.
extend a cordial invitation to you
.0 to attend out Exeter Fall Fair,
either as an exhibitor or a
spectator on September 24 and 25.
The directors appreciate the
support of the many people who
have contributed to our prize list,
both in donations and advertising
space,
• We have received grants from
the Ontario Department of
Agriculture and Food, the County
of Huron, the town of Exeter and
the surrounding townships,
For the third time we are
holding the fair on a Friday and
Saturday in order to give the
• many people that work in in-
dustries throughout the week the
opportunity to attend our fair
along with many school children.
The fair will open Friday night,
We are again sponsoring a baby
show and beauty contest. Both of
• these events will be held in the
arena Friday night with the baby
show starting at 7 ;30.
The auditorium of the arena
will again feature the usual high
quality entries in the ladies
The fair president's message
divisions that include baking. The
baking Queen will be crowned at
the opening fair session Friday
night.
The official opening will also be
held Friday night with Exeter
Mayor Jack Delhridge doing the
honors.
The mayor will be back
Saturday Afternoon with other
dignitaries including area
members of parliament and
-municipal officials.
We are making one big change
this year in the parade that
traditionally opens the second
day of the fair. This year the
parade will start at 1Q:30 in the
morning with Snell Brothers
garage as the starting point.
The Exeter Legion band and a
large number of floats will leave
this point and pick up the
youngsters with their bikes,
trikes, wagons, etc, and move on
to the fairgrounds,
Entertainment during various
intermission times of the baby
show and beauty contest will
feature local talent,
Visitors will be able to listen to
musical numbers provided by
Bob and Danny Heywood and
watch baton twirling by Leslie

Last year we brought harness
racing back to the fair after an
absence of many years and it
proved very successful, This year
we have increased our racing
fare to include five heats of
pacing and trotting.
Wagering facilities will be on
the grounds and the Archie
Cochrane starting gate will be
used to get the horses off pacing
and trotting. George Moffatt of
London will call the races.

Jeffery will be there with his bell
collection and George Burgin of
Kirkton will display some of his
restored farm gas engines.
The Forest city model flying
club will put on a show with their
radio controlled model planes,
Saturday afternoon.
Saturday night we have made
plans to have bands provide
dancing music. To please the
teen-age crowd we will have The
Cavaliers playing on the ice
surface while the Country Pals
will provide suitable music for
the older folks in the auditorium.
The draw for five prizes of
meat will take place Saturday
evening.
Many new exhibitors have
asked for prize lists and are
expected to be in attendance. We
expect a lot more entries this
year in the poultry division.
I would like at this time to
thank all the directors for their
help during the past year and all
the merchants in town and area
who have made donations of cash
or merchandise,
In this message I have only
been able to cover a few of the
many features of the fair, so I
would ask you to come and
support your Exeter Fall Fair on
Friday and Saturday, September
24 and 25,
Saturday is the big day, See
You At The Fair,
Visitors to this year's Exeter
Fair will again have opportunity
to bolster their meat supplies for
a very small initial outlay,
This year, the annual draw
sponsored by the Fair Board will
be offering four prizes to the first
tickets to be drawn at the dance,
Saturday night,
The first ticket drawn will
entitle the holder to a hind
quarter of beef donated by
Exeter District Co-Op . The
second prize is one-half of a
dressed pork through the cour-
tesy of Merner's Meat Market,
Dashwood.
A dressed lamb provided by the
Hensall Sales Arena goes to the
third ticket drawn and fourth
prize is a dressed turkey donated
by A & H food market.
Members of the fair executive
will be selling tickets in the
arena,

Another addition this year is
the inclusion of the Exeter
Agricultural Society's feeder calf
club as part of the fair. About 17
boys and girls from this area will
be showing their calves during
the afternoon activities and they
will be sold by public auction in
front of the grandstand later in
the day.
The new Exeter 4-H horse and
pony club will also be showing at
the fair.
