The Crediton bantams after
eliminating Poplar Hill in the
first round of Ontario Baseball
Association playoffs dropped a
23-6 verdict to Emeryville
Monday afternoon but the final
decision of the game may not be
known until later in the week,
The Crediton club filed a
protest with the OBA Tuesday
afternoon on the grounds the
umpires in charge of the game
were not able to produce OBA
cards according to regulations.
After a sixth inning dispute
when the base umpire failed to
make any ruling on a Crediton
appeal when an Emeryville
runner apparently failed to touch
second base a request was made.
They were asked for their
cards by Creditor' coach Joe
Regier but were able to produce
only proof from the Windsor
Umpire Association. The two in
question are registered with the
OBA but failed to give any reason
why they did not, have cards.
Subsection 7 Of the section on
umpires in the OBA constitution
and by-laws states that umpires
must show their cards to the
coaches of both clubs and the
convener when requested to do
so.
VG
TRUST COMPANY SINCE 1889
While the Creditor" protest
gives the facts leading up to the
incident it is based solely on the
failure to produce umpiring
cards.
The bases were loaded at the
time and the player that ap-
parently missed second base hit a
home rim making the score 14-6
for Emeryville.
The second game of the series
is set for the Crediton park at two
o'clock Saturday afternoon with a
third if necessary slated for
Sunday afternoon, also in
Crediton.
An 013A convener said early
this week that no further games
would be played until the protest
matter is cleared up but that it is
expected to be done within the
next few days allowing the series
to continue.
The Crediton club reached the
second OBA round by downing
Poplar Hill 8-5, Saturday af-
ternoon in the third and deciding
game of a best-of-three series,

the game.

Finkbeiner and Larry Clarke that
produced two more Crediton
scores, Their final runs came in
the fifth with hits by FinlOreiner,
Eugene Glavin and Kevin
I3estard providing the power.
Win in eighth
In the deciding game against
Poplar Hill it was a four run
Crediton uprising in the top of the
eighth that provided the 8-5
margin of victory.
Larry Clarke doubled and
Eugene Glavin, Ron Bowers and
Ron Smith produced singles to
score the four runs.
Consecutive singles by Howard
Schenk, Rodger Finkbeiner and
Ron Smith sent the first Crediton
run home in the fourth and two
more were plated in the seventh
with Clarke, Smith and Eugene
Glavin delivering singles.

the ninth as the result of Kevin
Bestard's single.
