Marie Carter and Gary Thomas Kyle. Rev. G. Lockhart Royal officiated amid a background of candelabra and pink, white and mauve gladioli. Charles Merrill was organist and soloist Mrs. Robert Homuth sang several selections. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Carter, Clinton and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. David Kyle, Hensall. Given in marriage by her father the bride wore a gown with the skirt featuring six tiers of floral scalloped lace. It had a fitted bodice, long full sleeves 4 with tight cuffs, and high neckline. A floral headpiece of tiny pearls held her shoulder length veil. She carried a white Bible decorated with a purple orchid and white murns. Matron of honor was Mrs. Wm. Darrell, sister of the bride, bridesmaids were Nancy Kyle, sister of the groom, Janet Meidinger, and Debbie McKinley. They were gowned alike in coral puckered nylon, trimmed with iridescent pearl trim around empire waists. They wore tiny coral flowers in their hair and carried nosegays of white mums. Jane Carter, cousin of the bride, was flower girl, and wore a floor length gown similar to the bridesmaids and carried a crochet basket of coral mums. • Billy Darrell, nephew of the bride, was ring-bearer and carried a satin pillow trimmed with the bride's lace. The groomsman was Kevin McKinnon. Guests were ushered by Steve Kyle, brother of the • groom,. Shane McKinnon and Wm. Taylor. Following the ceremony the bridal party received guests at a dinner and reception held at the Legion Hall. For travelling on their United Church notes United Church Sunday School classes resume Sunday. Unit IV U.C.W. Hensall United Church will hold their meeting September 9. Tony Gelderland, Ridgetown, is visiting with Mr. & Mrs. Sim Roobol for a few days and at- tended the funeral of Arie Legerwerf at Parkhill, Thursday. Lynne Dodds, of Seaforth is visiting with her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Sim Roobol, Ray McKenzie, Toronto, for- merly of Hensall, is a patient in Lakeshore Hospital, New Toronto. He is recovering from injuries he received in an ac- cident, He has a fractured arm and leg. Mr. & Mrs. Edgar Cudmore spent the weekend at the Blue Water conference grounds, Wallaceburg. Mrs. Stanley Mitchell is a patient in St. Josephs Hospital, London. Wilmer MacDonald and son Jack and Gail Stewart of Brampton were recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Edgar Cudmore. Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Towton of Sault Ste. Marie, spent the weekend holiday with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Don Towton and grandson John. Mr. & Mrs. Don MacLaren, Jodi and Brooke of Scarborough spent the weekend with Mrs. Bertha MacGregor. Margaret Hyde, who spent the past several weeks touring Europe visited last week with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Hyde, prior to resuming her teaching classes in London. Rally Day at Carmel Presbyterian Church will be observed September 19. Teaching classes will start the following Sunday. Mr. & Mrs. Don MacLaren and family of Scarborough visited with Mrs. MacLaren's mother, Mrs. Lorne Chapman, and with Tillsonburg, Exeter, St, Thomas, Bayfield Centralia, Brussels, Seaforth and Crediton. Prior to the wedding the bride was honored at showers given by Mrs. Wm. Darrell, Clinton, Mrs. John Meade, Clinton, Janet Meidinger, Zurich and Mrs. Byron Kyle, Hensall. Lorne Chapman who is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Holland and family of Thamesford were recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Jim Sangster and Brad. Mr. & Mrs. Bill Shaddick of London were recent visitors with the former's mother, Mrs. Pearl Shaddick. Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Mickle, Pamela, Judith and John, Mrs. Florence Joynt; Mr. & Mrs. Robert Mickle, London, Ann Mickle, Toronto, Charles Mickle of Hamilton and Mr. & Mrs. Laird Mickle were guests Sunday with the latter's daughter and son-in- law, Mr. & Mrs. Ross MacMillan of Waterloo. Mrs. Harry Klungel, Hensall, left Saturday for a three week trip to Holland to visit her mother and other relatives. Lodge selects new officers Amber Rebekah Lodge resumed meetings for the fall season Wednesday evening with the Noble Grand Mrs. Myrtle Taylor presiding. She was assisted by the Vice Grand Mrs. Elizabeth Riley. The officers selected for the new term are as follows: Noble Grand, Mrs. Olga Chipchase; Vice Grand, Mrs. Dorothy Beaton; recording secretary, Mrs. Leona Parke; financial secretary, Mrs. Bertha MacGregor; treasurer, Mrs. Dorothy Corbett. The recording secretary read the report of the year's work from Past District Deputy President, Mrs. Lois McFalls. Mrs. Aldeen Volland and Mrs. Myrtle Orr volunteered to visit Queensway Nursing Home in September. A pot-luck, lunch was enjoyed in the lower hall following the meeting. Several Hensallites will be busy building and renovating this fall according to the almost record number of permits passed at council, Wednesday night. Two new houses will be erected this fall, their owners being 0. Webber and Frank Varley. Those planning renovations to their present dwellings are Earl Gass, Howard Smale, Oliver Jaques, Murray Baird and Mrs. Pearl Koehler. Autumn brides would be wise to pick up the special form provided at our office, fill it in before the wedding and have some one drop it back to us either just before or right after the wedding day. Venner applied to erect a utility shed, At the same meeting council heard of complaints from persons living on King Street (Highway 84) who had been troubled with water in their basements. A letter was drafted to the Department of Highways asking for repairs to a portion of King Street, widening it west from the railway tracks and installing a new drain. Council also decided to lay another 200 feet of sidewalks on Queen Street. In answer to a request from the village fire brigade it was agreed to pay 50 percent of the cost of jackets for the brigade up to $500.00. Next meeting of council will be October 4. Chiselhurst UCW convene for fall The United Church Women of Chiselhurst United Church held their fall meeting with president Mrs. Russel Brock opening the meeting with a poem followed by the theme song and prayer. Mrs. G. Glenn conducted the worship, "The Common Heart," assisted by Mrs. T. Brintnell. Mrs. H. Parker gave the stewardship message, "Partners with God." Their fall bazaar, and decided to paint the exterior of the church. Mrs. Rose Harris was in charge of the program. Exeter mon visits friends William Pearce was reunited with Did friends and several Members of his family recently at the annual reunion of the Moorehouse elan. Travelling with his son, W. Ellis Pearce of Arva, they stopped to visit with friends .at .Sheciden before going on to Shetland to attend the reunion, The program was arranged by the president Wayne Boyce, of Flint, Michigan. Rev. Anson Moorhouse related his travelling experiences in various parts of the world. Professor Q.
