Mrs. Jo Van Yalkengoed and
Mrs. Frank Hamilton were the
conveners for the Horne
Economics and Health meeting
of the Staffa Women's Institute
held in the Township hall, August
25.
The president, Mrs. John
Miller, presided and veiled with
the Institute Ode and Mary
Stewart Collect. Fifteen mem-
bers answered the roll call by
naming an improvement they
would like to see in the township.
A letter was read from the
Institute's adopted child in
• Turkey.
Training school for the 4-H
leaders was announced and Mrs.
Ed. Chavpel gave a report on the
district directors' executive
meeting and reminded members
of the area convention at Clinton,
September 30 and October 1, and
the fall rally in Stratford later in
October.
Mrs. Frank Hamilton gave a
paper on the motto, "If you look
back too much, you'll soon head
in that direction." Mrs. Robert
McCaughey gave a reading, My
Purpose.
Mrs. Jo Van Valkengoed in-
troduced the guest speaker, Mrs.
Cannon, from the Perth District
Health Unit, who very ably
described, by word and pictures,
the unit's work in prenatal care,
preschool and school visits and
II! the work with the elderly, by
word and pictures.
Courtesy remarks were given
by Mrs. Frank Hamilton.
Following the meeting a silent
auction bake sale was held,
