It won't happen by accident for there must be lots of teamwork and preplanning. So, why not a craft fair of our own? An Exeter Crafts Fair could be a very nice thing. It would be still nicer if it grew from an active , village crafts guild where all of us young and old pooled our knowledge in our own pet hobby and in due time, again not over night, developed to such a level of excellence that we had no need to invite exhibitors from other communities. Why couldn't our community become a focalpoint for a happy band of weavers, doll makers, wood-turners, candlemakers, leather crafters, metal workers, gem polishers and potters and anything else you want to throw in? There must be senior citizens in town who, given direction, could not only have fun but amplify their fixed incomes by making a variety of useful gift items for display. There must at the other end of the scale be teenagers who are just not that interested in sports but would go all out with craft projects. The writer could be wrong and very wrong but it is his opinion that an active local crafts group could produce enough attractive items in due time not only for an annual or semi, annual craft show but even enough to have a small non -profit permanent shop on main street, Again, not Announce New Healing Substance: Shrinks Piles Exclusive healing substance proven to shrink hemorrhoids and repair dama ged tissue.
