niversary,
They were married at the home
of Mrs. McKinley's parents, the late Mr. & Mrs. George Coleman
and have resided on the .same
farm at RR 1, Zurich, every
since.
The McKinleys have three
sons, Anson, Robert E., and
Berne and one daughter, Mrs.
Jean Fanson, of Fullarton. They
also have 18 grandchildren,
While Mr. McKinley operated
the farm for many years, he also
founded McKinley Hatchery in
the 19211's.
Both have been active in
community affairs over the years
and have held many positions in
church and other organizations.
Mr, McKinley was campaign
chairman for the building of the
Blue Water Rest Home and has
been on the board of directors
ever since. He has also held posts
with the Huron TB Association,
the Huron Lodge and the Exeter
Chapter of the Order of the
Eastern Star.
He is a stauch supporter of the
Progressive Conservative Party
and in 1949 was the candidate in
the federal riding of Huron, the
riding which his son, Robert E,
now represents.
Mrs. McKinley is a Past
Matron of the Exeter Chapter of
the Order of the Eastern Star.
They were presented with a.
framed scroll from the Province
of Ontario and received a per-
sonal congratulatory message
from Premier William G. Davis.
Congratulations were also
received from the Hon. C. S.
MacNaughton and Clare
Wescott, executive assistant to
Premier Davis.
Prime Minister Pierre Elliott
Trudeau sent a telegram of
congratulations, as did Governor-
General Roland Michener and
the leader of the Opposition,
Robert Stanfield.
A smorgasbord dinner was held
at the McKinley home for
members of the immediate
family.

we think of what a name little
Carlow is getting through its
fabulous craft show, surely we
have the brawn and muscle to
match them.
It won't happen by accident for
there must be lots of teamwork
and preplanning. So, why not a
craft fair of our own?
An Exeter Crafts Fair could be
a very nice thing. It would be still
nicer if it grew from an active
, village crafts guild where all of
us young and old pooled our
knowledge in our own pet hobby
and in due time, again not over
night, developed to such a level of
excellence that we had no need to
invite exhibitors from other
communities.
Why couldn't our community
become a focalpoint for a happy
band of weavers, doll makers,
wood-turners, candlemakers,
leather crafters, metal workers,
gem polishers and potters and
anything else you want to throw
in?
There must be senior citizens in
town who, given direction, could
not only have fun but amplify
their fixed incomes by making a
variety of useful gift items for
display. There must at the other
end of the scale be teenagers who
are just not that interested in
sports but would go all out with
craft projects.
The writer could be wrong and
very wrong but it is his opinion
that an active local crafts group
could produce enough attractive
items in due time not only for an
annual or semi, annual craft
show but even enough to have a
small non -profit permanent
shop on main street, Again, not
