Tire "fever" — critical
temperature — is 250 degrees,
and quite attainable when
you're driving at high speeds
on a hot summer day. That's
also when the heat's on,
because tire wear is rapid and
you may be in danger of
complete tire failure.

tires on all our excellent cars at

GRAND BEND
The Grand Bend Ratepayers
association met in the village hall
Saturday evening with 25
present.
Edward Mcllroy presided, and
Dr. Brigham and Mr. Thompson
reported having presented
recommendations to council.
The present by-law permits
dogs on a leash on the beach. One
member raised the question do
dogs on a leash have different
habits than those not on a leash
and not contaminate the beach?
It was decided the by-law should
be revised.
Mr. Thompson suggested that
if a constable was employed by
the village for one shift from 2:00
p.m. to 10:00 p,m. it would be
sufficient with the aid of OPP. It
would not involve too great an
expenditure and the constable
could enforce by-laws.
The Rescue Patrol boat was
mentioned again and Mr. Ginn
said last year they were repon-
sible for placing the markers and
buoys at the main beach but there
had been none placed this year.
A motion was presented that a
letter be written to Grand Bend
council requesting from them a
written report of the results of the
recent meeting between council
and the Ontario Provincial Police
regarding the enforcement of
local by-laws.
It was also recommended, for
the sake of common safety, that
next year the lifeguards be given
authority to get the license
number of any boat breaking the
law and endangering swimmers;
also that a sign be placed at the
launching pad reminding boat
owners of the laws governing
boats on the Grand Bend water
front.
Mrs. Beatrice Mason was
unanimously voted for the office
of vice-president.
