Crediton ball

The first midget game in a
best-of-three series will be played
on the Crediton diamond Friday
night at six o'clock.
The return game is set for the
Arva ball park, Sunday af-
ternoon.
The first game in the bantam
section is set for Crediton
Saturday afternoon at 2:30 with
the second contest slated for
Poplar Hill Tuesday night at six
o'clock.

A gathering of the Walker
family was held at the home of
Mr. & Mrs. Hugh Currie and
family Dorchester, Sunday, They
celebrated the birthdays of Otto
Walker and Mrs. Larry Gardiner.
Those in attendance from this
area were Mr. & Mrs. Walker and
Mr. & Mrs. Larry Gardiner,
Steven and Lisa.
A pleasing feature of the oc-
casion was the presence of Mr. &

their respects to the late John
Houghton. John was a son of the
late Mr. & Mrs. William
Houghton and spent his early
years in Cromarty,
The community was saddened
by the death of Lloyd Miller of
Stratford who passed away
suddenly at his home in Strat-
ford, Monday. Lloyd was a son of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Simon
Miller, former residents in
Cromarty and is well remem-
bered by many of the people of
this community.

The Annual Festival of Flowers
sponsored by Kirkton Hor-
ticulture Society was well at-
tended August 17 when 240 entries
were on exhibit.
The evening program consisted
of selections by a trio, Ellen and
Cynthia Copeland and Pamela
Rodd, accompanied by Mrs.
Copeland.
Mrs. Jas. MacDougald in-
troduced the demonstrator, Mrs.
Pauline Rubarde, of London, who
assembled many arrangements.
Dan and Bob Heywood en-
tertained with guitar and ac-
cordion numbers.
Mrs. Toni Hern, Zion was
winner with the most points. She
was followed by Mrs. Ellis
Strahan, Woodham, and Mrs.
