Stewart. T-A photo By MISS ELLA MQRI-OCK Vacation Bible School classes began Monday in Zion United Church with an enrolment of 90 members, 40 of whom were from Huron Park. The school is under the direction of Rev. Douglas Warren, with 25 young people from Highland Park Baptist Church of Southfield, Michigan, providing leadership. A short Moody science film is shown each morning and it is planned to show a longer one at Parents' Night, Friday evening. PERSONALS Mrs. Edward Perkins and Brian of Caledon spent a few days with her sister Mrs. Malt Finkbeiner and family. Mr. & Mrs, Bill McDougall of Haliburton spent the weekend with his sister Mrs. Matt Fink- beiner Debbie returned home with them after spending the week with her aunt, Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Hey spent the Family on western trip Lions Fair a huge success weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Austin Hey, Detroit. Bob l3ushfield and his three sons are on a fishing trip north of Ternagarni. Norman Eveland has a two- seated buggy in the lot beside the antique store, The plate bearing the maker's name reads "W & McBride, London, C.W." "C.W.", according to Mr. Eveland stands for "Canada West", Miss Gertrude Beaver, Detroit, spent three days with Mr.& Mrs. Russell Beaver. Mr. & Mrs. Vernon Beaver accompanied by two of their grandchildren, Pittsburgh, are spending ,the week here. Walter Weber seriously injured his right hand in a farm machine accident. Mr. & Mrs, Ron Harris and family, Rexdale, were guests of Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Preszcator. At Zion United Church Sunday morning special music was provided by Mrs. Gordon Fink- beiner and her two daughters, Ruth Anne and Helen. Diane Beaver spent last week with her grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Sam Lawson. Mrs. Alvin Finkbeiner enjoyed a vacation at a church camp on 'Strawberry. Lake, Northern Minnesota. Members of the Alvin Fink- beiner family gathered at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Eric Fink- beiner, Sunday. Mr. & Mrs. Wolfgang Janzen came from Windsor, Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Vandeworp and family from Kitchener and Gwen Finkbeiner from London, Rev. Armin Schlenker con- ducted the service at the Bluewater Rest Home, Zurich, Sunday evening. Mrs. Ed Fink- 'beiner, Exeter, played the organ and Mrs. Gladys Budge sang. Lucan Fair 1971, under the auspices of the Lucan Lions Club, was a huge success. It was held in the arena and grounds, Friday evening and Saturday afternoon and evening. Attendance was reported to be Lucan girl wins medal near 1000 Friday, and possibly more Saturday. The fair was opened by Hon, Wm. A. Stewart, Minister of Agriculture. He also presented the prizes for the talent shows, Saturday. In the arena building was the bar which did a good trade, the lunch counter which was always busy, as well as the soft drink stand, and booths in charge of local merchants and organizations. On the grounds were games of chance, a tent housing the OPP safety theatre, more trade exhibits and a stage and benches for the action shows as well as rides for the children. Friday evening a country and western show featured Earl Heywood. Saturday featured junior and senior talent shows, M.C.'s were CKSL Art Bartell and King Perry. A Karate exhibition was also given, Candy apples, floss and balloons for the children were in profuse supply. Above all there was an at- mosphere of friendliness. The livingroom was decorated with white and green streamers, balloons and a wedding bell. The chair in which the bride was seated was decorated in pink and white colored streamers and bow, A wedding day contest was won by Gwyn O'Rourke. Following this Beatrice Thomson read the address to the bride and Vicki 'O'Rourke and Mary Thomson carried in the gifts while Pattie O'Rourke and Beatrice Thomson assisted the bride in opening them. Lunch was served bringing the afternoon to a close. The youth and recreation branch of the Ontario Dept. of Education in conjunction with the Royal Canadian Legion, Municipal recreation committees for community groups and field meets, sponsored a two-day clinic in connection with a province- wide junior development program in track and field, • Ann Revington was awarded the third prize in the bantam high jump. She had previously won many school awards for track and field events. One hundred of the children attending will be chosen to go to Camp Borden for a week before school opens. Women attend leaders course Mrs. William Froats attended the week's course for leaders at the London Conference School for Women at Alma College, St. Thomas, last week. Mrs. W. C. Tupling, Mrs. M. H. Hodgins, Mrs. J. W. Lockyer and Mrs. Frances Saward attended the one-day session, Wednesday. Leadership development, communication and resources for teaching were the main topics of the lectures and discussions. By MRS. ROSS SKINNER The Elimville south line picnic was held Sunday at. Mr. Bos is director at the music department at Washington Bible College, Lanham, Maryland, Mrs. Bos is a daughter of the late Mrs. Violet (Elliott) Norris formerly of Whalen. Mrs. Mabel Parkinson, London, accompanied them. Mr. & Mrs. Duncan Anderson, and family, Kitchener, were Sunday guests with Mr. & Mrs, Gordon Johnson. Mr. & Mrs. Cleve Pullman visited Sunday evening with Mr. & Mrs. Bob Lockings, Brussels. Mrs, Margery Morley has returned home from a three week visit with Mr. & Mrs. Fred Sot- cher and family, • San Jose, California. Sandra Hodgson, St. Marys, holidayed last week with Mrs. Ken Hodgson. Mrs. Gordon Johnson, Mary and Betty spent a few days at Turnbull's Grove, last week. Mr. & Mrs, Ken Hodgson were Sunday evening visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Don Carter, Metropolitan. Mr. & Mrs. Clayton Ferguson, West Lorne, were Saturday visitors with Mr. & Mrs. E. Ferguson, Sunday, Mr. & Mrs, Ken Zavitz, Lorne Ferguson and Linda Rumford, Thedford also visited the Fergusons. Mr. & Mrs. Albert Udris, Kalamazoo, and Mrs. Ervins Ucliis, London, spent a week with Mr. & Mrs. Arvid Beitans, Mr. & Mrs. Hamilton Hodgins and Berton attended the Hodgins reunion at Poplar Hill, Sunday, Mr. & Mrs. Arvid Beitans, Dace, Inta and Janis visited with Mr. & Mrs. I. Jakabsan, Detroit, for a few days during last week. Martin who had holidayed with the Jakabsans also returned home. Mr. & Mrs, Hamilton Hodgins visited Sunday evening with Mr. & Mrs, Fred Mardlin, Wesley, on the occasion of the 4th birthday party for Louise Mardlin. Mrs. Allen Hodgins held a Sara Coventry jewelry demonstration at her home, Thursday evening. Friends and neighbors attended. Carolyn and Craig Wallis of London visited last week with their grandparents, Mr, & Mrs, Alton Wallis. it PERSONALS Mr. & Mrs. John Miners and girls are enjoying a holiday in the West, Bidduiph plans stray dog pickup At Bidduiph council meeting last week the members decided to read the engineer's report on the Wallis Drain, September 7. They held court of revision on the Kerr Drain and the Rathburn Drain. A bylaw was passed entering into an agreement with the London Humane Society to pick up stray dogs in Granton. They approved in principle a waste disposal site on Lot 24 Conc. 3 and authorized the following building permits: Bernard Benn, lot 8, south of London Road, an im- plement shed; Eldon Young, lot 25, conc. 4 an implement shed; John MacDonald, lot 11, north of London road, a garage; Robert Sockett, lot 38 conc. 3, a barn; James McLaughlin, Granton, to renovate a store; Hamilton Hodgins, lot 14, conc. 8, a silo, and Hugh Davis, lot 8, north boun- dary, a silo. CHURCH NEWS Rev. W. C. Tupling again conducted the service for a United Church and Anglican combined congregation, Sunday, at the Lucan United Church. His sermon was entitled, "A Song for To-day", Miss Marlene Butler was the soloist and Miss Gayle Mardlin, the organist. Next Sunday will again be a combined service at the United Church with Rev, Tupling con- ducting, Miss Joan Lockyer as soloist and Mrs. Roy Dykeman as organist. Mr. & Mrs. John Stanley and family of Lethbridge are spen- ding this week with Mr. & Mrs. Wilbert Stanley. Jack Murdy visited Miss Lina Abbott last week and Mrs. Sheridan Revington visited her Monday. Mrs. John Armstrong of Toronto is visiting her brother, Leo Morkin. Arran and Erica Simpson of Ottawa are spending a few days with their aunt and uncle, Mr. & Mrs. Keith Kraul. Mrs. James M. Dewan is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital. Helmi Van Bussel was given a bridal shower in St. Patrick's Church Hall, recently prior to her marriage later in August. Walter Benn who had spent six weeks visiting his Lucan relatives died suddenly in Kit- chener at the residence of his son. He was on his way home to Edmonton. His funeral was held in that city in mid August. LUCKY DRAW WINNER As part of their training, U.
