A total of 11 young athletes
from Exeter and district at-
tended the Royal Canadian
Legion provincial track and field
championships held at Seagram
Stadium in Waterloo, Saturday.
Anne Revington of Lucan
brought home a bronze medal for
her performance in the girls high
jump event. She was the first to
clear the bar at 4'8".
When Anne was ready to try the
jump at two inches higher heavy
downpour of rain came. In a later
attempt she failed to clear the
bar and a girl from the Oshawa
track club came on to win the
event.
Others competing from this
area were Perry Pooley, Jim
Dougherty, Peter Catlos, Eddie
Van Derburgt, Rick Sch-
-wartzentruber, Brad Lavender,
Dan Laport, Valerie Sweet, John
Dougherty, and Kim Postill,
Kim Postill is one of 100

Perry Pooley worked the fourth
and fifth frames giving up a
single run while Paul Pooley and
Pinder shared pitching chores in
the disastrous sixth.
After scoring once in the first
inning, the Exeter youngsters
scored four times in the second
and added single runs in the top
of the fifth and sixth to take a 7-5
lead before the Goderich bats
started to boom in the sixth.
Paul Brooks singled and scored
the first Exeter run on the
strength of Ken Pinder's single.
The four run Exeter splurge in
the second was powered by Perry
Pooley's triple and singles from
the bats of Morley Obre and Jeff
Davis.
In the fifth, Paul Brooks bashed
out a triple and scored on a
Goderich error on Ken Pinder's
grounder.
Fred Robinson reached first on
an error in the sixth and counted
as Perry Pooley singled.

by Listowel in the first round of
play in the Western Ontario
Athletic Association playoffs.
Saturday night on the Exeter
diamond, Listowel scored early
and often as they picked up a 10-4
decision.
Tuesday night back in Listowel
it was a different story with the
Exeter club jumping out in front
with four runs in the second in-
ning but Listowel kept pecking
away at the lead and managed a
5-4 victory with a single run in the
bottom of the sixth inning,
Five singles allowed the Exeter
club to score all four runs in the
second frame, Tuesday night.
Getting the hits were Guy
McIntyre, Paul Robinson, Brad
Gregus, Perry Stover and Pete
Glover.
The only ,other Exeter hits
during the entire contest were
Paul Robinson's single in the fifth
and Pete Glover's triple with two
out in the ninth.
The Listowel pitchers
McLaughlin and Ament com-
bined to chalk up a total of 19
strikeouts. Perry Stover went the
mound distance for Exeter.
In the opening game, Listowel
scored three times in the first
inning and sewed the game up
with a four run rally in the sixth.
Exeter's first of four runs came
in , the second when Paul
McKnight walked and scored on a
single by Brad Gregus.
In the sixth, Pete Glover
singled, Guy McIntyre walked
and both scored on hits from the
bats of Randy Tieman and Bryan
Tuckey,
The final Exeter run came in
the eighth when Doug Fairbairn
walked and scored without the
