LEWIS Jim Culbert, Wilfred Hudson, Gerald Atkinson, Joe Hodgins and Harold Brown. Honorary pallbearers were Harold Ryan, Hilton Roberts, John Roberts, John Hall, Clark McNair and Joe Benn. Couple exchange vows CECIL NICKLES Cecil Nickles of RR 3 Granton, died suddenly in Westminster Hospital, Saturday, July 31, 1971, at the age of 54. He is survived by his wife, Lillian Mae Redman; sons, Carl of Granton, and Fred and Stephen, both of Gunton, Manitoba; daughters, Mrs. William (Marilyn) Moffatt, of Huron Park, and Mrs. Adrian (Pauline) Jongeneelen, of London. Also surviving are brothers, Ernest and Bruce Nickles, and a sister, Mrs, Leonard (Nellie) Birch, all of London, and 18 grandchildren. The body rested at the C. Haskett and Son Funeral Home, Lucan, where the funeral service was conducted by Rev. W. C, Tupling, August 3. Interment in Granton Cemetery. Pallbearers were Carl Nickles, Fred Nickles, Stephen Nickles, William. Moffatt, Adrian Jongeneelen and Lloyd Nickles. held in the Lucan Church parlour A reception and dinner was followed by a dance and supper at the Shillelagh Motor Hotel, The couple left for a trip to the East coast, Sudbury and Manitoulin Island, the bride travelling in a pastel pink en- semble embroidered with pink seed pearls and navy ac- cessories. Their future home will be in Clandeboye. The groom is em- ployed by Lew-Mar Leasing and the bride is attending the University of Western Ontario. Newlyweds honored by Crediton church District lady passes away reading and Shirley Pfaff read the address. Those who assisted the bride in the opening of the gifts were Julia, Shirley and Cathy Pfaff and Susan McLandress. BIBLE SCHOOL Vacation Bible School will be conducted in Zion United Church, August 16 to 20, with a team from Highland Park Baptist Church, Detroit, as leaders. They plan to use their bus to transport children from Huron Park to the school. Children four years old and up are invited to attend. Mrs. Gordon (Marjorie Ferguson) Hodgins died in St. Joseph's Hospital, August 1, 1971, in her 31st year. She is survived by her husband, Gordon Hodgins, of Denfield, and children, Debbie, Betty, Patrick, Denise and Dennis, all at home. She is also survived by her stepmother, Mrs. Roy Ferguson and brothers, Jack of Hyde Park and Calvin of Brantford. The funeral was held at the C. Haskett and Son Funeral Home, and conducted by Rev, L. Jacklin of Hyde Park, Interment in St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye. Pallbearers were Jack Phillips, Bernie Miles, Frank Caliver, Reg. Sandie, Bob Gaff- ney, and Joe Haggerty. By MISS ELLA MOR LOCK Members of Zion United Church met in the Sunday School rooms to honour Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Roeszler, recently married couple. Mrs, Nelson Lamport was in charge of the program and conducted a contest. There was a reading by Mrs. Howard Lightfoot and a singsong led by Rev, Douglas Warren with Mrs, Russell Finkbeiner at the piano. Rev. Warren presented a purse of money to the honoured guests. Lunch was served by Mrs. Lamport, Mrs. Finkbeiner, Mrs. Robert Reid, Miss Clara Gaiser and Mrs. Cliff Kenney. Lucan United Church was decorated with baskets of white mums and candelabra for the double-ring ceremony of marriage between Lynda Letitia Jane Young and Larry Cecil Lewis performed by Rev. W. C. Tupling, July 24, 1971. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Young, RR 1 Lucan, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Lewis of Clandeboye. Patricia Kennedy of Ilder ton was the soloist accompanied by Mrs. Roy Dykernan at the organ. Given in marriage by her father, the bride had chosen a floor-length gown of silk organza trimmed with guipure lace edging, with matching coat forming a chapel train and caperchone hood. She carried a cascade of pink sweetheart roses and white carnations, with white velvet ribbon and ivy. The maid of honor Joan Cun- ningham and the bridesmaids, Mrs. Elaine Wallace and Mrs. Lois VanGeel wore identical formal gowns of mauve chiffon over taffeta. White straw hats with mauve ribbon bands to match the gowns completed their ensembles. The flower-girl Carol McFalls wore a white dress with mauve ribbons similar to the bridesmaids. Each of the at- tendants carried a cascade of mauve carnations with mauve velvet streamers. The best man was Philip Lewis, brother of the groom, and the ushers were Paul Young of Lucan and Robert Hickson of Lucan. BRIDAL SHOWER July bride Mrs. John McLandress (Cynthia Pfaff) was honoured by a shower held by relatives and friends in the Community Hall, Thursday evening. Janet Preszcator gave a DELMAR J. WESTMAN Delmar J. Westman, of Granton, died in St. Marys Hospital, St. Marys, August 3, 1971, at the age of 75. He is survived by his wife, the former Jean Radcliffe, his children Mrs. Ken (Marion) Mills, and Mrs. Stan (Delma) Thomson of RR 6 St. Marys, Mrs. Ken (Amelia) Keron of Arva, and Mrs,Bob (Lila )Foster of Granton, Glen and Gordon Westman at home. A sister Mrs, Earl (Wilda) Middleton of Granton, 15 grand- children and two great- grandchildren also survive. The funeral was from the C. Haskett and Son Funeral Home, Lucan, with Rev. W. C, Tupling officiating, August 4. Pallbearers were Verne Topping, Raymond Lewis, Harold Robinson, Percy White, Wilfred Garrett and Lloyd Mardlin. Flower bearers were Harold Wallis, Austin Hobbs, Elmer Sumner, George West- man, Allan Aitchison, Bill Evans, Garfield Nixen, Bill Lambert, and Harold Hodgson. WILLIAM BROWNLEE William E. Brownlee of Lucan died in Victoria Hospital, Friday, July 30, 1971 at the age of 72. He was the husband of the late Effie Culbert. He is survived by a son, William B. of Ottawa and daughters, Mrs. Patrick (Kathryn) Laverty of Hamilton, Mrs. Charles (Margaret) Elson of Lucan, and Mrs. Allan (Marilyn) Paton of Windsor. He is also survived by sisters Mrs. Ave Ryan of Vancouver, B.C. and Mrs. McEwen (Myrtle) of Toronto, 10 grand children and two great-grandchildren, The body rested at the C. Haskett Funeral Home where the funeral service was conducted by Rev. W. C. Tupling, August 2. Interment was in St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye. Pallbearers were Cam Culbert, PERSONALS Mr. & Mrs. Reg. Finkbeiner attended the wedding of Ronald Sass, brother of Mrs. Finkbeiner, at Barnegat Light, New Jersey. Mr. & Mrs. John Wade have returned from a month's vacation at Carlyle, Saskat- chewan. Mr. & Mrs. Will Oestricher visited with Mr. & Mrs. Sheldon McCandless, Strathroy, and with Mr. & Mrs. Ed French, Clara and Mattie Oestricher, Windsor. Mr, & Mrs. Desmond Wood, Fort Erie, called on Mr. & Mrs. Emmery Fahrner last week. Paul Fydenchuk spent a week at Camp Menesetung, near Goderich. Mrs. Isaac Gower and Mrs, Joe Bullock were at Honey Harbour to celebrate the 25th wedding anniversary of Mr. & Mrs. Edward Darbey. Rev. Armin Schlenker con- ducted services at the Salvation Army Citadel, Stratford, and at the United Church, Zurich, Sunday afternoon. Rev. & Mrs. Schlenker and Mary Ellen were guests of Mr. & Mrs. Helmuth Schlenker, Port Elgin. Clifford Mallett, who lived in Crediton when his father operated the hotel on Main Street, died suddenly in Florida. His body was brought to the Crediton Cemetery for burial, Saturday. During the Sunday morning service at Zion United Church, special music was provided by soloist Miss Betty Snell,Londesb,. orough. She was accompanied by her sister, Mrs, Bosman. Joy Whiteford is employed at CIAG Insurance, London, Mrs. Masnica is a patient at St. Joseph's Hospital. Mr. & Mrs. Jim Ruggabar have returned to London. Their house is now occupied by Mr, & Mrs. Lord and their three sons from Belmont. Mr. & Mrs. Farr and family have moved from Huron Park into the house formerly occupied by the Thornes. Andy Wilson, Waterloo, on Urban-Rural Exchange, is a guest at the home of Mr. & Mrs, Steve Pertschy, The public library will be closed until August 28. By MRS. SUN PRESZCATOR Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Regele and girls of Princeton spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. & Mrs. Stan Preszcator and family, they also visited Mr, & Mrs. Joe Regier. Tammy Preszcator returned home after spending holidays with Mr. & Mrs. Regele. Mrs. Jack Dye and Chris returned home last Thursday night after spending holidays with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Bob Dolphin, St, Thomas.
