The Legion went on a scoring
rampage as they trounced the
Kinsmen 19-3, Monday night.
They scored seven runs in, the
sixth inning with consecutive
borne runs by Dean McKnight
and Don Pickering doing Most of
the damage.
Earl Wagner also blasted a
round-tripper for the Legion to
lead off the third inning.
In other games, Grand Bend
edged Custom Trailers 9-5 and
the Kinsmen trounced Dashwood

eliminate Crediton.
Mclsaac pitched the seven
inning route and gave up only six
hits while teaming with Hayter
and Clarke to produce the batting
power.
Clarke collected a double and
four singles in six trips to the
plate while Mclsaac slashed a
home run, a triple, two doubles
and a single in the same number
of attempts at the bat. The home
run came with the bases loaded.
Tom Ilayter had a perfect night
at the plate with a home run, two
doubles and three singles.
Also helping the Dashwood
hitting attack was Fraser Boyle
and Peter Datars with two
doubles and a single apiece and
Marty Becker with four singles.

to lead the Crediton hitters while
Darryl Preszcator, Earl Pfaff,
Steve Finkbeiner and Dennis
Pfaff notched a single each.

Mitchell edged the Tigers 8-6 in

of a best of three series.

played in Dashwood Friday at
eight o'clock with a third game if

Friday night, Arva edged Dash-
wood 2-1.
The Tigers, the only "D" club
in the Huron-Perth league will
advance to the OBA playoffs
expected to start August 28.
Mitchell and Clinton will meet
in a playoff series to decide which
club will advance in OBA :"C"
play. Thorndale will compete in
the "B" category while Arva
goes into junior competition and
St, Marys will play in the juvenile
section.

Left stranded
In the 2-1 loss to Arva, the
Dashwood club left 11 runners
stranded on the bases.
The only run came in the eighth
when Bob Hoffman walked,
moved up on another free ticket
to Pete Ravelle and scored on Bill
Schade's single.

Dashwood Industries broke out
with a five run splurge in the
third inning as they downed
Custom Trailers 13-7, Monday
night.
Bob Parsons and Dave Elston
cracked home runs to lead the
Dashwood batting attack,
The first DIL run came in the
second inning when Dave Elston
tripled, Butson walked and both
scored,
In the third Parsons led off with
a round tripper, Frank Boyle and
Dale Skinner both walked and
came home on Elston's double.
Jack Tweddle and Gerry Riehl
also scored in the same frame.
In the fifth, the winners scored
three more times with Bob
Parsons, Frank Boyle and Dale
Skinner crossing the plate. The
final DIL runs came in the
seventh when Boyle and Skinner
singled and rode home on a home
run from the bat of Elston.
Chuck Dalrymple and Rick
McDonald singled and scored for
Custom in the ,first inning.
In the third Ross Mathers
crashed a Custom home run with
Rick McDonald and Tom
Dalrymple aboard.
Fred Wells and Randy Tiernan
crossed the plate in the sixth with
the final Custom runs of the
game.
Long ball hurts
The long ball with veteran
Laverne "Porky" Wallace doing
most of the damage, enabled the
Mitchell club to gain their
opening win by an 8-6 score.
Wallace hit two home runs and
bashed out a triple to pace his
club at the plate. He hit his first
round tripper in the first inning
with Ballantyne on the bases,

Mrs. Grace Scott was hostess
for the August meeting of the
Women's Missionary Society of
Cromarty Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Calder McKaig presided
and opened the meeting with a
verse of scripture. She led in a
meditation on "Giving". The
offering was received and
dedicated by Mrs. Grace Scott.
Eleven members answered the
roll call with a verse on
"Giving". Satisfactory reports
were given by the secretary and
the treasurer.
Business was conducted by
president Mrs. M. Dow when
arrangements were made for the
September meeting when the
Explorers and C.O.C. will be
guests of the WMS. Mrs. McKaig
reported 12 cards and visits to the
sick.
When a feller says "It ain't the

Huron County's Largest
meets at Centralia
The fifth meeting of the Exeter
4-H horse and pony club was held
at the farm of Ron Swartz
farm, Wednesday. The meeting
was opened by president Wayne
Presczator and turned over to
Mr. Swartz who explained how
to show horses in halter classes,
Also, his daughter Nancy and
Craig Black demonstrated the
correct way to show halter
horses.
On behalf of all the members
Brian Hicks had the opportunity
of thanking all three for an in-
teresting and educational
demonstration. The next meeting
will be held August 17„
