The funeral was held at the Hopper-Hockey Funeral Home, August 9 with Rev. Glen Wright officiating. Interment was in Exeter Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ken and Ron Oke, Bob Atkinson, Robert Heck- man, John and Marty Becker. MRS. MARGARET BECK Mrs, Margaret Hamilton (Wilson) Beck passed away in Clearwater, Florida, August 2, 1971, in her 80th year. She was the widow of the late William J. Beck of Clearwater and Yonkers N.Y. Surviving are her step- daughter, Mrs. C, Maddux, Venice, Florida, and a sister, Mrs. Roy White of London, • Ontario, and two grandchildren. Burial was in Terrytown, N.Y. HARVEY JOHN BORLAND Harvey J. Borland died, July 7, 1971, at Dawson Creek, BC. He was born in Exeter, March 1, 1885. Mr. Borland is survived by his wife Charlotte Ruth, one daughter, Mrs. Alice Evelyn Sherman of Dawson Creek, and one son, Robert Bell Borland of Vancouver, A brother William George Borland of Calgary also survives. • MRS. MABEL ANN THIEL Mrs. Mabel Ann Hartnett Thiel, wife of Andrew Thiel, died at South Huron Hospital, August 3, 1971. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Beatrice Newman of Dunnville. Westlake Funeral Home made the funeral arrangements, Mass was said in St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church, Zurich, August 6, and interment was made in St. Michael's Cemetery, Dunnville. • J. ARNOLD JAMIESON Arnold Jamieson, Hullet Township, passed away at the Seaforth Community Hospital, August 1, in his 70th year. Surviving besides his wife, the former Irene Bolton, are three children, Dorothy of Guelph, • Douglas, of Exeter and Leonard, at home. Two sisters, Miss Edna Jamieson, of Clinton and Mrs. Harold (Florence) Glew of Clinton and two grandchildren also survive, Mr. Jamieson was predeceased by a daughter, Lois, and a sister, Effie. PERSONALS Word was received Saturday of the sudden death of Mrs. Don Nassr (former Cecelia Ducharme) in Windsor. She was the daughter of Theresa and Wilfred Ducharme of this community. She died in her swimming pool. Martin O'Rourke has been a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital for the past two weeks. Joanne McCann, daughter of Mr. & Ms. Jack McCann was chosen to represent North Middlesex district high school in Brandon, Manitoba and left by plane Tuesday as an exchange student for the next two weeks. More than 55 relatives gathered for a picnic on the lawn last Sunday at the home of John and Leona Glavin. Mr. & Mrs. Wm, Muller and Mr. & Mrs. Harry Gielen have returned home to their farms here after a pleasant holiday in Holland. General Hospital, July 29, 1971 in his 72nd year. He is survived by his wife the former Annie Shaver, a son Gerald A, Bedford, Stratford, and a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Sharon) Hurst, Brantford, a brother, George of 'Allen Park, Michigan, and sisters, Mrs. Robert Tapp, London, Mrs. Valeria Armstrong, Mrs. Gordon Heywood, both of Exeter, and Mrs. Frank Carrel, Goderich. Six grandchildren also survive. The funeral was conducted from the Needham Memorial Chapel, London, MILS. EILEEN DOYLE Mrs. Eileen Monica (Brooks) Doyle, wife of Francis A. Doyle passed away in the Bluewater Rest Home, in her 73rd year. Besides her husband she is survived by her children, Mrs. Charles (Moira) Wallace, Zurich, Mrs. George (Monica) Antipas, Surrey, England, and Eugene, New Canon, Conn., U.S,A. and seven grandchildren. Westlake Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral and mass was in St. Boniface R. C. Chur- ch, August 4. JOHN GEORGE LOVIE John George Lovie, Mollard Line, Stephen Township, died August 4, 1971 at St. Joseph's Hospital, in his 78th year. Besides his wife, Sarah (Prance) Lovie he is survived by four children, Carman of Grand Bend, Mrs. George (Iva) Latta, Mrs. Orval (Freda) Farrell, and Cecil William all of Stephen Township. Four sisters, Mrs. Alex Hotson, Ailsa Craig, Mrs. Lawrence Curts, Grand Bend, Mrs. William Curts, London and Mrs. Dean Smith of Ipperwash, 15 grand- children and six great- grandchildren also survive. The funeral service was held August 6, from the M. Box and Son Funeral Home, Parkhill, with interment in Grand Bend Cemetery, The pallbearers were six grandsons, Raymond and Ronald Latta, Kenneth, Larry, Garry and David Lovie. A FRIEND IN NEED On the Civic Holiday weekend a young couple drove in to the Supertest Fill-ur-up Car Wash on Highway 21. The gentleman had lost his wallet and didn't know how he could continue his journey home to Wyandotte, Mich., without gas or money. Stan Johnson manager of the Car Wash gave them $3.00 worth of gas and one dollar to get them across the border. Thieves take off with stereo tapes During the past few weeks, the Exeter police department has received a number of complaints from motorists that stereo tapes have been stolen from their cars. The local department advises motorists to mark tapes with some identifying mark, so they may be identified when recovered. A total of 21 tapes have been reported stolen in recent weeks. At the present time there are no regulations regarding fences, although the PUC requires that they be "properly protected by the required enclosures" before they can be filled with water. At last week's meeting, council received copies of swimming pool#: Wingham, Precious Blood School fence regulations now in effect in in Exeter, St. Mary's School in both London and Stratford.
