KEN IVIFKEL4AR A good crowd was on hand on Friday night when good-natured rivalry and slightly bent rules Made an entertaining ball game when the married ladies defeated the men by a score of 27-22. Batteries for the men were Ina Finlayson and Margaret Ann Parkinson while Frank Elliott pitched and Laverne Wallace caught for the ladies. Sunday evening, a girls' team from St.Marysdefeated the team of Cromarty and Staffa girls by a score of 24 to 16. The local girls were leading until the eighth inning when St. Marys scored nine runs. Saturday night the Cromarty girls defeated Dublin Goodtimes 19-17. July 12, Ron Edward's team of boys, the Beagles, defeated Dublin Expos by a score of 31-29. PERSONALS Sunday visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Alex Gardiner were Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Zurell and Kirk Of Rostock, Mr. & Mrs, Lorne Splane and Beverly of London, Mr. & Mrs. Douglas Eyre and Richard of Shedden visited with Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Scott. Mr. & Mrs. Ken Moorehead and Jennifer of Brampton, Miss Kim Moorehead, Bonnie and Laura Knechtel of Rostock spent Friday with Mr. & Mrs. Alex Gardiner. Mr. & Mrs. Larry Gardiner, Steven and Lisa accompanied by Mr, & Mrs. Robert Hulley of Winthrop spent the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Alex Walker and family at Dowling. Miss Kim Walker returned with them to spend some holidays with her many relatives. Mr. & Mrs. T. L. Scott attended the Scott family reunion, Sunday in Seaforth Lions Park. Recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs, A. Gardiner were Mr. & Mrs. Jim Horan, Michelle, Charlene and Bradley of Mitchell, Debbie Hulley of Winthrop visited with her grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Otto Walker. Richard Eyre of Shedden and Michael Findlayson of Staffa are holidaying with their grand- parents, Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Scott. Mr, & Mrs. Otto Walker visited Jack McGhee who is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. He has recently undergone surgery on his foot. Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Laing and family have returned home after enjoying a motor trip to the western provinces. Aid of Cromarty Church, which was held at the home of Mrs. T. L. Scott, it was decided to donate the sum of $200.00 to the board of managers. Mrs. James Miller presided for other business which included the naming of a committee to pur- chase new drapes for the Sunday School room. Following the meeting Mrs. Scott read an interesting letter from her son David, outlining the progress he has made in his agricultural work in Sarawak. Mrs. Karl O'Neill is home again in Lucan after spending some time in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Mr. & Mrs. Wilfred Logan of Thorndale visited Mrs. Clara Paton, Sunday. Mr. & Mrs. Bob Donaldson and family of London visited Sunday with Mrs. Donaldson and family, William Allwright is still a patient in Victoria hospital, London. Orton Letherland of Toronto is spending a few days with Mr. & Mrs. Rea Neil at Clandeboye, Mr. & Mrs. Monty Potter of Woodstock visited with Mr. & Mrs. Will Ritchie, Parkhill, Sunday. Joan Harper visited a few days ,at St. Pauls Sunday a joint service of the Anglican and United Church congregations was held in St. James Church. The Rev. R. A. Carson preached on a text from Deuteronomy. He said that the one thing that is most obvious about our age is that it is determined to destroy the past. He pointed out that this is a Former resident celebrates mistake, we should be trying to build a super-structure on the foundation of the past. Canada is a great country because its had leaders who were willing to make their dreams a reality, So we who are Christians should be struggling to make the Christian religion a live force in our world. Rev. & Mrs. Arthur Rader and son Marc, Calgary, Alberta are vacationing with Mr. & Mrs. Elgin Rader and Brian. Fred Schroeder is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Alvin Walper has recently returned home from hospital. Mr. & Mrs. Herbert Bills and family, Cass City, Michigan, visited a few days last week with Mr. & Mrs. Albert Rader. They all spent some time at Niagara Falls. Mr. & Mrs. Eben Weigand, Norma and Mrs. Beulah Desjardine have returned home from holidays. While away they visited Ontario Place, Upper Canada Village, Ottawa, Midland, where they visited the shrine, and Collingwood. Miss Idella Gabel, ARCT an- nounces results of her music pupils with the Toronto Royal Conservatory: Grade II theory, Cheryl Peck, first class honors. Results of students trying Western Ontario Conservatory exams may be found on page 10. Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Gleeson of St. Thomas have purchased the home of the late Mrs. Alex Zimmer. Weekend visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Alphonse Grenier and family of Dashwood were Mr, & Mrs. Richard Rader, Goderich, Mr. & Mrs. Glen Baker, London. Mr. & Mrs. Dale Baker, Bonny, Laurie and Richy of Lambeth stopped at the Greniers, Sunday, and camped over night. They continued on their bicycle journey Monday, They are bicyling from their home at Lambeth to their grandparent's at Lion's Head. They hope to be there by Thursday evening. By MRS. Other guests attended from Calgary, Alberta, Goderich, London, Zurich, Brantford, Kitchener, Zion, Waterloo and Crediton. Elmer was presented with a gift by the faruuy. District five held their action meeting at the Central Huron Secondary school in Clinton, Thursday night. The guest speakers were national vice-president Walter Miller of Tara and Bill Langdon, chairman of the national dairy committee. Mrs. Maxine Miller was the chairlady. Unanimous support was given Mr. Miller on immediate nation wide action condemning the low' prices and demands for negotiating powers for all farm products.
