At a meeting, July 17, of the
Grand Bend ratepayer's
association the question of the
enforcement of local bylaws was
discussed,
It was recommended that the
Grand Bend council be asked if
the local bylaws can be more
effectively enforced without
going to the Attorney General to
request enforcement by the
provincial police.
A membership application
form was prepared with the view
to encourage wide participation
of the association.
held recently the council agreed
to sponsor a nursery school for
the mentally retarded. The
school will be held in the
Alhambra Hall, south of the
village, three mornings per week.
Mr. & Mrs. Ronald Brown and
family of Toronto visited with
Mr. & Mrs. Mansell Mason last
week.
Bob Brown of Detroit,
vacationing near Ipperwash
called on Mr. & Mrs. Mason one
day last week.

the United Church camp this

Dr. Judith Brigham of
Louisville, Kentucky, and her
mother, Mrs, Clydesdale of
London, are vacationing at their
summer cottage here,
Mrs. Gladys Singleton of
London is visiting with Mrs.
Grace McCracken.
Peter Hendrick turned sixteen
years of age July 9, and
celebrated the occasion Sunday.
His most prized gift was a pair of
precision roller skates. On
Monday he made a successful
attempt to obtain his beginner's
drivers licence in Exeter.

GB ratepayers question bylaws
Crediton families enjoy
summer holiday trips

The Grand Bend U.C.W. held a
successful bake-sale last Friday
afternoon, They realized sixty,
eight dollars.
The recently-completed
Medical Center is now staffed
with two young Irish doctors; Dr.
William O'Connor and Dr. Sean
Trapp, both graduates of the
same medical college in Dublin.

RECEIVES APPOINTMENT
Dr. Robert F. Love, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Ross Love, Clinton, has
been appointed a full professor
of operations research at the
University of Wisconsin where
he has been an associate
professor since 1968. Previously,
Dr. Love taught at Berkeley
University, California and at
University of Western. Ontario.
He lives in Middleton, Wisconsin,
with his wife and three children.

Several Crediton families have
been enjoying summer
vacations, Mr. & Mrs. Lorne
Preszcator and their three sons
camped at Inverhuron. Nearby
nature trails were a delight.
Mr, & Mrs. Robert Hilborn and
Cathy and Miss Nola Faist
travelled to Kentucky. They saw
Abraham Lincoln's boyhood
home and visited the Mammoth
Cave.
Mr. & Mrs. Earl Lippert, Mr. &
Mrs. Hugo Schenk and Edward
travelled on Earl Lippert's boat
from Grand Bend to Tobermory.
From Tobermory they went out
to Flower Pot and Club Islands.
Boating, they found, is becoming
crowded. They saw boats an-
chored four deep in Tobermory
harbour.
Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Hey are
camping near Stratford With
Rev, & Mrs. M. E. Reuber.
Earlier they took the Polar Bear
express to Moosonee.
Rev, & Mrs. Armin Schlenker
and Mary Ellen were at Golden
Lake Camp near Ottawa.
Mr. & Mrs. Walter Fydenchuk
and family have been holidaying
in the Niagara District.

Dr. & Mrs. Carl G. Morlock,
Rochester, Minnesota, are
visiting with Miss Ella Morlock.
Word, , has been receved from
Rev. & Mrs. Douglas Warren,
halfway through their July
holiday. They camped near Port
Carling to be able to enjoy the
spiritual ministry of Keswick and
planned to go next to White River
for fishing.
During the Sunday morning
service at Zion United Church
special music was provided by
Mrs. Russell Finkbeiner and
Miss Diane Hodge.
Will still charge
young drinkers
In the weekly news release
from the Grand Rend detachment
of the Ontario Provincial Police,
Sgt. C. M. Hawke reminds all
persons under the age of 21 that
the legal age for consuming
alcohol has not yet been changed
to 18 years of age,
Officers of the summer resort
detachment will be enforcing all
phases of the present Liquor
Control Act until such time as the
laws are changed.
During the week, GB officers
investigated 69 occurrences and
17 charges were made.
A total of seven persons were
charged for various liquor of-
fences, six were issued traffic
tickets, three more were charged
with Criminal Code offences and
one juvenile was charged with
being "unlawfully in a dwelling
place."
