Tender leaves of spinach make
an excellent green salad. The
mild flavor combines well with
other greens and the rich green
color and velvety texture make
• spinach an interesting addition to,
a tossed salad. Used as then
principal green for a spinach
salad, the result is a delight to the
palate and to the eye.
For an artful contrast in flavor,
texture and color, toss shredded
spinach leaves with sliced fresh
4 mushrooms, red onion rings, and
slices of hard-Cooked egg.
Another interesting salad
combines cheese and spinach and
a hot piquante dressing:
CHEESE AND SPINACH

1 lb. fresh spinach
1 cup cubed imported
Holland Edam or Gouda
2 hard cooked eggs, sliced
Dressing
cup salad oil
' cup wine vinegar
1 teaspoon paprika
1 2 teaspoon salt
to teaspoon pepper, preferably
freshly ground

ceremony in gxeter Pentecostal
Church, July 10, 1971.
Rev. Floyd Rhude, assisted by
Rev. Austin Gedke were the
officiating ministers.
Parents of the young couple are
Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Blanchard,
Exeter, and Mrs. Lena Van
Doorselaer, St. Thomas.
Mr. Blanchard escorted his
daughter down the aisle of the
church which was decorated for
the occasion with candelabra and
arrangements of shasta daisies,
white gladioli and baby's breath.
She wore a gown of white satin
styled with high neckline, empire
waist and long miff sleeves. Her
veil was cathedral length and fell
softly from a head-piece of
daisies and buds, She carried a
parasol filled with daisies, yellow
roses and ivy.
The bridal attendants were
Mrs. Charles Keating as matron
of honor, and Deborah Smart,
Anna Marie Dietrich, Patricia
Ward and Heather Wade. The
flower girl was Karen Blanchard.
She and the matron of honor were
gowned in turquoise georgette
while the bridesmaids wore
dresses similarly styled in
yellow. All had daisies in their
hair and carried parasols
trimmed with daisies.
The male attendants were
Bradley Blanchard as ring,
bearer, Thomas Harris as best
man and Ken Ward, Pete Baxter,
Robert Wade and Gary Blan-
chard as ushers.
Kathleen Cann provided the
wedding music and accompanied
the soloist, Mrs. Bruce Cann.
After the reception at the Dash-
wood Community Centre the
couple left for a trip to the United
States. The bride's travelling
costume was a white lace hot
pants outfit with yellow ac-
cessories.
Mr. and Mrs. Van Doorselaer
will reside in London.
Before her wedding the bride
was honored by several friends
who entertained in her honor.
They were Mrs. Charles Keating,
London, Mrs. Ron Ward and at
of St. Thomas, the staff of Sir
John. A, MacDonald School, Mrs.
HaroldBlanchard, London, and
the members of Exeter Pen-
tecostal Church.

Bonnie Lea Martelle, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd IVIartelle,
Sarnia, became the bride of
Joseph Regier Jr., son of Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Regier, Dashwood,
at a ceremony conducted at
Sacred Heart Church, Sarnia, by
Father McMann.
The soloist, Don Masse, Wind-
sor, was accompanied by Mrs.
Foster.
The charming bride was given
in marriage by her father. She
was attended by Linda Thomp-
son, Parkhill, Linda. Martelle,
Ailsa Craig and Mary Koricini,
Lucan.
Best man was Paul Thompson,
Parkhill, while Danny Martelle
and Joe Koricini were ushers,
After the reception at the
Village Inn, Sarnia, the bride
donned a mauve pant suit for
travelling to Northern Ontario.
Mr. and Mrs, Regier will reside
in Exeter,

decorated Owen Sound Church of
God when Morley Desjardine,
Grand Bend, took as his bride,
Mildred Jesske, July 2, 1971.
Parents of the couple are Mr.
and Mrs. Rudolph Jesske,
Medicine Hat, Alberta, and the
late Mr. and Mrs. Howard
Desjardine, Grand Bend.
Rev. Arthur Krueger per-
formed the ceremony while Mrs.
Nola Gerry, and Steven Horner,
Zurich, provided the wedding
music.
The bride wore a gown in
empire lines of lagoda with lace
encircling the waistline. It
featured a ruffled, stand-up
collar and ruffle trim which
extended from the wrist up the
sleeves. An imported lace, open-
crown head-piece held a lace
chapel train,
Bridal attendants were Evelyn
Krueger, bridesmaid and Charla
Krueger, flower girl. They wore
empire-waisted blue crepe gowns
and carried floral baskets of
white daisies and blue mums.
Best man was Fred fesjardine
and Stan Desjardine ushered the
guests, The ring bearer was
Warren Krueger.
After a reception at the bride's
residence the couple left for a trip
to Northern Ontario, Alberta and
California, the bride wearing a
pink crepe ensemble.

Pentecostal Church in Exeter,
decorated with peonies and
orange blossoms, was the setting
for the wedding of Joanne Elaine
Riley and Rodney Wayne
McLaren, June 26, 1971 with Rev.
Austin Gedcke, performing the
ceremony.
Mr. and Mrs. William Riley of
Centralia are the parents of the
bride and the groom's parents
are Mr. and Mrs. Keith McLaren
of Exeter. The organist for the
occasion was Miss Norma
Parkhouse of Hamilton.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride was gowned in a
full-length dress of crystal-peau
acetate, with Swiss lace accents,
stand up collar, and a center
front forming a bib effect. The
long sleeves gathered into
tapered cuffs. She wore a
mantilla of tulle net edged with
lace. Her flowers were red roses.
The matron of honor was Mrs.
Ron Riley of St, Thomas who
wore a pink gown similar to the
bride's with matching bow in her
hair. She carried pink roses.
Ron Riley, St. Thomas, brother
of the bride, was best man, while
Don Riley, Lucan, and Peter
Cudmore of London ushered the
guests.
The reception was held at the
Pentecostal Church basement.
Mr. and Mrs. McLaren will
reside at Huron Park.
Prior to the wedding, a shower
was held in honor of the bride by
the members of the Pentecostal
Church. A second shower was
held at the homes of Mrs. Floyd
Riley, at Huron Park, assisted by
Mrs, Ron Riley of St. Thomas and
Mrs. Don Riley of Lucan. Mrs.
Les Thompson, Exeter, aunt of
the groom assisted by Mrs. Ken
Cudmore of London, also honored
the bride with a shower.

The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. William Fenton, RR 2,
Ailsa Craig, and the groom's
parents are Mr, and Mrs. Jerry
Arnold, RR 2, Dashwood.
Miss Mons was the organist
and accompanied the soloist
Eileen O'Kroncey.
Given in marriage by her
father the bride chose an empire
style gown of crepe with long
puffed lace sleeves. A petal
headpiece held her veil and she
carried a cluster of yellow roses
with white and mauve daisies.
Joan Donaldson, as maid of
honour, and Julie Arnold, the
flower girl, wore empire styled
yellow dresses with puffed
sleeves and carried nosegays of
mauve and white daisies, The
bridesmaids, Gayle Fenton and
Brenda Arnold, wore identically
styled gowns in mauve and
carried nosegays of yellow and
white daisies.
Scott Sweitzer was best man.
The ushers were Larry Fenton
and Tom Arnold.
A reception followed in Dash-
wood Community Centre.
For travelling to Northern
Ontario, the bride changed to a
blue pant suit.
The young couple will reside in
Grand Bend.

CHEESE AND SPINACH, A GOOD COMBINATION

with cubes of Gouda cheese in
salad bowl. In a small saucepan
combine salad oil and vinegar.
Add seasonings. Heat to the
boiling point. Pour on salad
greens and thoroughly toss to
coat spinach with hot dressing,
Garnish with slices of hard
cooked egg. Makes G servings,
"Frozen Apple Cream" is
made from fresh apples,
sweetened and folded into
whipped cream, then frozen.
Both these desserts are simple to
make arid can be fitted into most
homemakers' routines.
FROZEN APPLE CREAM
1 tsp. gelatin
1 tbsp, cold water
1/2 eup hot milk
1/2 cup fruit sugar
2 cups shredded impeded
apples
1/4 cup chopped candied
cherries
Yi cup whipping cream,
whipped
Soak gelatin in cold water for
5 minutes then dissolve in hot
milk. Chill, Add sugar to
combined apple and cherries and
combine with gelatin mixture.
Fold cream into Mixture. Freeze
to a mush, stir; then freeze until
firm. S servings.
