The money was within his grasp — he just didn't know how to organize it." f Donald Couper, a Grade X student of South Huron District High school joined 30 students from Oxford County, who are interested in marine science, to travel by bus to St. Andrews-by- the-Sea, New Brunswick, for about three weeks. While there the students will be introduced to the marine sciences and related areas such as geology and fisheries. Brief lectures will precede extensive laboratory and field work. Dr. J. G. Oughton, director of Sunbury Shores Art and Nature Centre is the director of the course. The busload of young people left Woodstock, July 5, travelling Rec program underway first time most of the students had seen an ocean. Cathy Cook and Sheila Sangster who attended a Playground Leaders' Course in Owen Sound, are the two leaders, and are assisted by volunteers, Bonnie Sangster, Joan Goddard, Jane Heal, Joan Allan, Christine Vanstone, Kevin Bisback and Tony Kyle. Between sixty and seventy children registered the first day. Cathy and Joan are introducing drama and puppetry to the playground this year and their plays will be made up by the children and acted in thepark. Sheila is organizing handcrafts for the small children and Bonnie and Chris will teach a group macrame. Mrs. Couper is working with a group weaving belts on backstrap looms. Those boys interested in sports have Tony and Kevin to organize ball games. The recreation period will end with roller skating in the arena and a singsong with Cathy at the guitar. Wednesday puppetry will be the chief activity and Friday a scavenger hunt will take place. For the week following the boys will make bird feeders and the special event will be a bicycle rodeo. The last week of recreation will be spent practicing plays and puppet plays and finishing handcrafts and Wednesday the special event will be a family picnic. Prior to the wedding Mrs. Jones was honored at several events, one of them being a shower at Brucefield United Church when Mrs. Marjorie Love and Mrs. Marlene Zwaan were hostesses. Personals Members of the family of the late John Elder were reunited for the weekend, for the gathering of the clan when they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Geiger and Mrs. R. M, Peck. A highlight was Sunday dinner at Bayview Inn. Mr. & Mrs. R. A. Orr, Hensall attended the Falconer-McInnis reunion, Sunday held at Gorrie Park. Master Warrant Officer Donald Orr and Mrs. Orr have returned to their home at Ottawa after spending two weeks of vacation at the home of the former's parents, Mr. & Mrs. R. A. Orr. Mrs. Bertha Jinks, who has been in the Blue Water Rest Home for a week is in Hensall making her home with Mrs. Gordon Schwalm, Janice Armstrong, London, visited with Marjorie Schwalm over the weekend. Mrs. Grace McEwen is visiting with friends in Blyth for a few weeks. Mrs. Jack Chipchase and baby Jeffrey, Roanoke, Virginia, are visiting with Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Keys, Hensall and Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Chipchase, RR 1 Dash- wood. Mrs. Sim Roobol underwent surgery in St. Joseph's Hospital, London last week. Mrs. William Kyle is a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Mr. & Mrs. Laird Mickle spent Sunday with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Ross MacMillan at Southcott Pines where the family is on vacation for three weeks. Bowes MANAGER Rebekahs hold inaugural meet The Inaugural meeting of Huron District 23 was held in Amber Rebekah Lodge, Wed- nesday evening with District Depnty President, Mrs. Ruby Bell presiding. Members of Rebekah Lodges from Clinton, Goderich, Seaforth, Brussels, Exeter and Hensall were represented. Mrs. Gladys Skinner P.D.D, secretary-treasurer gave the report, Mrs. Lois McFalls, P.D.D.P. was presented with her jewel by Mrs. Ruby Bell, D.D.P. Mrs. McFalls gave a report of her activities. Mrs. Maggie Campbell was appointed District secretary- treasurer , Installation dates for October were announced as follows: Huron Lodge, Clinton, October 4; Amber Lodge, Hensall, October 6; Brussels Morning Star Lodge, October 12; Goderich Rebekah Lodge, October 19i Pride of Huron, Exeter, October 20 and Edelweiss Lodge, Seaforth, November 8. Mrs. Margaret Bowra, Past D.D.P. of Goderich congratulated the new District Deputy President, Mrs. Bell, and thanked Mrs. McFalls, Past D.D.P. for her year of office. Mrs. Hodgins, P.N.G. of Victoria Lodge, London expressed greetings. FALCONER-McINNIS The Falconer-McInnis reunion was held at Gorrie Park, Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Tom McInnis of Gorrie as host and hostess.'
