The Grand Bend and Area
Chamber of Commerce
presented the Top Hat award to
the port's first visiting skipper,
Captain Gil Lees of Detroit. Jack
Mennel was on hand at 7 a.m. one
morning last week to present the
plaque.
Hank Buechler of Kingsmere
subdivision, while playing golf
with Max Tiedeman and Ron
Carruthers, managed a hole in
one on the thirteenth hole at Oak-
wood golf course, Sunday.
The Anglican Church ladies
held a successful bake sale
Saturday afternoon In the Prrish
Hall. Proceeds amounted to
$57.25. Mrs, Glen Grindlay was
the winner of the cake draw.
Rev. A, Willis is a patient in
Westminster Hospital, London.
Harry Stokes is a patient in St.
Joseph's Hospital, London,
The finishing touches to the
Medical Centre will be completed
by this weekend all going well.
The drapes are being installed,

Open air church services
commenced last Sunday on the
lawrhof the Grand Bend United
Church. These services will
continue during July and August.

joyed a trip to Espanola last
week.
Maurice Van Bruaene of
Belgium who has been visiting
for the past month with his son,
Prosper and family, returned
home by plane Saturday.

visited last week in Essex with
their son Donald and family.
They also attended the
graduation exercises of their
granddaughter Debora.
Miss Eda Davies of Toronto

ding gowns and a contest was
held on wedding pictures. Mrs.
Russell Taylor received a prize
for having the closest wedding

troduced Mrs. Jackson Woods,
Elimville, who displayed and
talked on her Spencer Health
Garments.
Mrs. Clara Reinfelos, en-
tertained everyone with several
mouth organ selections.

by Mrs. Ross Smale.
Lunch was served by the
hostesses Mrs, Lloyd Miller, Mrs.
George Vivian and Mrs. Alvin

FARERWELL PARTY
A group of Cromarty ladies met
Thursday to spend the evening
with Mrs. Verna Brooks before
she left with her son, George to
take up residence in Dublin. A
few games of euchre were played
and Miss Olive Speare en-
tertained with humorous
readings.
A short address was read by
Miss Speare and Mrs. Brooks was
presented with a coffee set in a
wicker tray by Mrs. N. Harburn.
Mrs. Brooks will be missed
from the community as a good
friend and neighbor.

hostess for the July meeting of
the Women's Missionary Society
of Cromarty Presbyterian
Church.
Mrs. K. McKellar presided and
opened the meeting with a poem,
f allowed with prayer and
Scripture from Isaiah was read in
unison.
An article, written by Dr. In Ha
Lee, Message for the Seventies,
was read for meditation.
Roll call was answered by
naming one of the Fathers of
Confederation.
The secretary and treasurer
gave their repOrts and Mrs. T. L.
Scott conducted business in the
absence of the president . Mrs.
Moore's topic was read by Mrs.
Scott.
A film strip, A Village Reborn
was presented by Mrs. M.
Lamond and Mrs. T. L. Scott.
Current events were answered
by naming an early Canadian
Missionary.

Miller who passed away Monday
morning in Seaforth Community
