High scoring games feature
Tiger action in Huron-Perth
High scoring featured the three
Huron-Perth league games
during the past week in which the
Dashwood Tigers participated.
Wednesday in Thorndale the
First frame enough
The Tigers scored five runs in
the first inning and never
relinquished the lead as they
whomped St. Marys 18-4.
The first inning rally was
powered by singles from the bats
of John Hayter, Jim Hayter, Pete
Ravelle and Bob Hoffman.
Single Dashwood runs came in
the third and fourth with Bill
Schade delivering singles in both
innings and 'Pitcher Bob Webb
contributing a one-base blow,
Webb, Whitey Denomme and
John Hay ter singled in the fifth as
the Tigers scored a trio of
markers,
The biggest Tiger rally came in
the seventh when 13 batters came
to the plate and nine managed to
complete the cycle.
Bob Webb homered with Bud
Desjardine on base to start the
uprising. Webb also doubled on
his second trip to the plate. The
only other hit was a single
delivered by Jim Guenther.
In addition to being the hitting
star with a homer, double and
two singles, Bob Webb gave up
only four hits in posting the
pitching victory.
The young right hander fanned
an even dozen St. Marys batters.
Dozen hits
The Tiger bats rang out with
twelve hits during their 9-7
Wednesday win over Thorndale.
They scored three times in
each of the third and fifth innings
added a single marker in the
seventh and wound up with two
runs in the ninth to take the
victory.
Singles by Jim Hayter and Pete
Ravelle sent the Dashwood runs
across in the third and doubles by
Jim Hayter, Pete Ravelle and
Bob Hoffman along with John.
Hayter's single were responsible
for the fifth inning scoring.
Whitey Denomme and Pete
Ravelle singled home one run in
the seventh while similar hits by
Denomme and Bob Hoffman sent
the winning runs across in the
ninth.
Hawks 14 Dufferin 5
The Hawks scored an even
dozen runs in the third inning as
they dumped the Dufferin Hotel
14-5, Thursday night.
Pete Revington's home run was
the big blow in the third frame
uprising. Other hits were con-
tributed by Ron Grasdahl, Ron
Janke, Bill Bourne, Greg
Revington and Bob Hodgins.
Grasdahl walked and scored on
Scott Burton's single for the first
Hawk run in the first inning and
Greg Revington singled to send
Bourne home with the final run in
the seventh.
The Dufferin scored twice in
their first turn at the plate with
Don Appleby and Gary Leger
crossing the plate.

Road salts and mud destroy
windshield wiper blades. If
there is any sign of smudging
on the windshield - replace
the blades.
On chilly evenings, open the
right-rear car window a tiny
bit -• heater efficiency is
greatly increased.
For best gas mileage and fast
warm-ups, do not permit a
long idle time after starting a
cold engine. Pull away two
minutes after starting,
Safety tip: turn on lights
when operating windshield
wipers. Make sure you are
seen by the other fellow
during a storm.
Driving tip: hit the brake or
downshift just before
entering a turn. Feed some
gas when the turn just begins
to straighten out.

Legion 11 Custom 1
The Legion club scored in
every inning as they posted their
Thursdayhlt. night 11-i victory over
Custom Trailers.
Jerry Finnen started things off
right with a lead-off home run for
the Legion. Cy Blommaert
followed with a single and came
around to tally without the aid of

in the second it was singles by
Hugh Montgomery and Blom-
maert that produced another pair
of Legion scores. Keith Lovell
scored in the third after reaching
first on an error and Gerry
Finnen singled and came home
on another similar hit from the
bat of Lovell in the fourth.
The Legion broke out with four
runs in the fifth with Cy Blom-
maert's double and singles by
Dean McKnight and Montgomery
providing the punch.
The only Custom run came in
the third when Ray Mills walked
and scored on a single from the
bat of Fred Wells.
Keith Lovell was the winning
pitcher for the Legion with Bill
Brock being tagged with the loss.
Dufferin 6 DI L 6
The Dufferin club scored a
single run in the sixth to gain
Monday's 6-6 tie with Dashwood
Industries.
Walker singled with one out in
the sixth, moved to second as Don
Appleby walked and scored on
Bob Nadon's single. Appleby
tried to score on the same play
but was tossed out at the plate on
throw from right fielder Brad
Klumpp to catcher Don Cooper.
Dashwood jumped ahead with
two runs in the first inning when
Bob Parsons and Gerry Riehl
walked and scored on an error.
The Dufferin bounced back
with three runs in the second to
take a one run margin on the
scoreboard. Singles by Leger,
Riley and Hodgins produced the
go ahead runs.

Tigers edged the home club 9-7.
Friday night under the Dashwood
lights they trounced. St. Marys 18-
4 and Sunday in Mitchell, the
Dashwood club suffered a 21-9
beating.
The two wins in three starts
gives the Tigers a season record
of seven wins and three losses.
The Tigers are idle until
Sunday afternoon when they take
on the Clinton Colts as a windup
of Friedsburg days in Dashwoocl.
Early and often
The Mitchell BP's scored in
every inning but the first and
eighth as they trounced the
Tigers 21-9.
The Mitchell batting attack
against Dashwood hurler was led
by pitcher Jack Deelen, Jim
Fuller and Dennis Hughey, who
collected three hits apiece.
Dashwood scored twice in the
second inning with Dick Bedard's
single and a double from the bat
of John Hayter providing the
power.
Two more Tigers crossed the
plate in the third with Bob lloff-
man and Pete Ravelle providing
singles.
Bedard's second single of the
game sent Bill Schade home in
the fifth and the veteran pitcher
bashed his third safety to head a
three run Tiger rally in the
seventh. Others getting hits were
Jim Hayter with a double and
singles from Pete Ravelle and
Jim Guenther.
Jim Hayter tripled and scored
on an error in the eighth to
complete the Tiger tallying,
