The congregation of the Zion
West United Church will join the
Centralia congregation for a
combined service in the Centralia
church Sunday morning when the
Rev. Robert Wilson will preach
his farewell sermon. The service
will be at 11 o'clock.

Sunday afternoon marked
Memorial Day at the Crediton
Cemetery. Music was provided
by the Ropp Family of Ailsa
Craig. They sang and played on
the drums, guitar, ukelele and
accordion.
Rev. Douglas Warren's
message was "What Mean Ye by
These Stones?" He referred to
Gilgal and to Calvary, the
remembrance of loved ones
leading to the remembrance of
Christ.
After the service people moved
to the new cemetery gates for a
ceremony of dedication con-
ducted by Rev, Warren, The
entrance contains a name stone
from an earlier entrance
dedicated in 1927, and a new
name stone donated by Thomas
Pryde and Son, Exeter.
The committee responsible for
the beautiful grounds and the
attractive entrance are Gordon
Morlock, William Swartz,
Russell Finkbeiner, Cliff Kenney,
Gordon Finkbeiner and Milton
Sweitzer, trustees; Miss Nola
Faist, treasurer and Charles
Hoffman, caretaker.
Gerald Martene, Dashwood is
in charge of the construction of
the entrance gate.
CHILDREN'S DAY
Sunday, Children's Day was
observed in Zion United Church
by a combined service of the
church and Sunday School. The
Explorers, trained by Mrs. Doug
Warren, sang as a choir, with
Mrs. Gordon Finkbeiner ac-
companying them. The three
youngest classes also sang.
Mary Ellen Schlenker recited,
Kathy Bowers and Debra Fink-
beiner sang, Mrs. Alvin Fink-
beiner accompanying them, and
Gwen Finkbeiner sang to the
accompaniment of her guitar.
Miss Audrey Finkbeiner,
missionary-on-furlough from St.
Lucia, was guest speaker. She
contrasted the child training
provided by Hannah, mother of
Samuel, with that attributed to
Eli the priest, and gave some
examples of observed results of
parental discipline from her
experience in the West Indies,
Eric Finkbeiner, superin-
tendent, was chairman. Howard
Hendrick, first assistant, read
the scripture and Ross Pickering,
second assistant, introduced the
guest speaker. Elva Finkbeiner
was organist.
Walter Safety says, "Investigate
conditions BEFORE entering the

buddy."

Ella Mae Schlenker showed
slides of her colorful European
tour to a group of friends in her
home Sunday evening.

Wednesday evening the film
'His Land' was shown to an ap-
preciative audience in Zion
United Church, Mr. Gillespie,
Toronto, representative of the
Billy Graham Association, was in
charge of the presentation.
Mr. & Mrs. Robert Fell and
daughter Linda of Niagara Falls,
New York, were guests of Mr. &
Mrs, Walter Fydenchuk last
week.
Thursday afternoon, the
Explorers held their last meeting
of the season with their mothers
present. The girls served their
guests confections they had
prepared, and tea.
