PERSONALS Mr. & Mrs. Bob Tindall and family attended the Tindall picnic, Sunday at the Centralia Community Centre. Many of the youngsters from this community enjoyed Lucan Lions fun day on Saturday and brought home several ribbons, Mr, & Mrs. Jim Barker spent Sunday evening with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Heber Davis, Miss Jean Barker was a weekend guest with her friend Cathy Hearn, Lucan. Mr. & Mrs. Larry Greenlee were Sunday evening guests with Mr, & Mrs. Leroy Maguire, Lucan. Michael Brine played the second hymn and Margaret Parkinson read a poem. The study book was presented by Mrs. Lloyd Cowdrey. The meeting closed with a singsong. PERSONALS Mr. & Mrs. John Witteveen, Sharon and Brian were pleasantly surprised on Friday evening when former neighbors and friends called at their home in St. Marys and spent a social time with them and presented them with gifts. She was competing at the Hensall Kinsmen Ontario fiddling contest. T-A photo NDP group holds rally Over 60 canvassers from the area gathered at the home of Pat Chefurka, NDP candidate for Middlesex North for a barbeque and rally last Thursday evening. The volunteer campaign workers are at present com- pleting the first canvass which is attempting to cover the entire Middlesex North riding. The areas of Lucan, Parkhill, Komoka, Ilderton and the urban sector of the riding in London were all represented. Mrs. Chefurka, Komoka, and Mrs. Dorothy Elliott, Parkhill her campaign manager, are most optimistic about the NDP's chances of winning the riding, particularly with the delay of the election until fall, giving the party more time to employ its volunteer forces to canvass the riding. Robert Bray and John Miner left Saturday for Victoria, British Columbia to visit Dr. Sanford Clare and Mrs. Clare. Mrs. Clare is a sister of John Miner. The evening was spent playing crokinole, euchre and dancing to music supplied by Norm Whiting of Exeter. Carl Mills of Exeter, with Scottish brogue, made the presentation to the family. SUNDAY SCHOOL PICNIC The annual Sunday School picnic was held in Riverview Park, Exeter, Saturday. MESSENGERS The monthly meeting of the Messengers was held in the Sunday School room with 28 members present. The theme of the meeting was "God's Care in Springtime". A hymn was sung with Paul Brine at the piano. A poem was read by Audrey Mills. The scripture was read by Linda Timms after .which Paul Brine led in prayer. A story was read by Mrs. Marvin Hartwick followed by a song by the junior members. By MRS, WILLIAM RaHoE The annual Sunday School anniversary was held Sunday with the Rev. Derwyn Docken B.A, Walton, as the guest speaker. The music was supplied by the children of the Sunday School under the leadership of Mrs, Reg Hodgert, accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Ross Ballantyne, and Miss Agnes Bray at the organ. The minister told a story to the children entitled "Live and Dead, Branches," and the sermon was "Family Fun and the Church." The weather was co-operative up until about 4:30 p.m, then 'Old Davey' really sent it down for a while. However, it cleared and the games continued. Congratulations to Comrade Gord Elson, 540's sports officer and his hard working crew for a well-organized meet. Many thanks to Molson's Darryl Edestrand who supplied the trophies and the announcing system and to Roy Hodgins for the use of the lovely surroundings without which it would be dif- ficult to host such an event in a festive atmosphere.
