AUDITOR'S REPORT
To: The Members of Council, Inhabitants and
Ratepayers of the Corporation of the
Village of Lucan.
We have examined the 1970 financial statements of the
Corporation of the Village of Lucan and its local boards, which
are listed on the attached Index. Our examination included a
general review of the accounting procedures and such tests of
accounting records and other supporting evidence as we
considered necessary in the circumstances.
In our opinion these financial statements present fairly the
financial position of the Corporation of the Village of Lucan and
its local boards as at December 31st, 1970, and the results of
their operations for the year then ended, in accordance with
accounting principles generally accepted for Ontario
municipalities applied on a basis consistent with that of the
preceding year.

Lucan District Lions Club held
their annual Frolics for the
children of the district in the
Lions park, last Saturday, with
free hot-dogs and soft drinks.
An event was arranged for
each school grade, for both girls
and boys, of public school age.
One of the highlights was the
diaper race, which was declared
a draw between three babies on
the length of a blanket.
There were 3-legged races and
wheelbarrow races for the 500
boys and girls who participated.
As well as the prizes for win-
ning races, ribbons were given as
recognition for those children
who did such a good job of
cleaning up the park.

Lots of cheers
for local horses
Last Wednesday evening four
McCormick Home residents were
taken to the Western Fair
Raceway by an auxiliary
member. They were royally
treated with special parking
space, free admission, reserved
seats in front of the finish line,
The evening was of particular
interest to Miss Lina Abbott as by
chance, nine Lucan horses were
racing that night, and she knew
all the owners and the drivers. As
the other three residents and
their driver knew no owners nor
riders they all decided to cheer
loud and clear for Lucan horses
hoping that one of the nine
would be a winner. Their ex-
citement was high when Ken
Hardy drove his horse to victory
and won the fourth race.

In another few days the
children will be through school
for the summer vacation period
and will be looking forward to
days filled with carefree fun. in
the play grounds - at the
swimming pools and beaches and
on our streets. Let us, as
Legionaires, make sure their
summer's enjoyment will remain
filled with carefree fun and
laughter by driving safely and
sanely.
Comrades, let us set the
example for good driving - it is
quite simple - the number one
rule is fasten safety belts;
number two - observe the rules of
the road and number three-drive
defensively. By observing these
simple rules I am sure you will
have an enjoyable carefree
vacation and not one to look back
on with regret.
Comrades, Lucan's Centennial
plans are shaping up and the
various committees are working
diligently to make this
momentous occasion one that will
be of interest to all age groups
and remembered for many
years.
The week-long celebrations will
start off with a monster Parade
on Monday, Aug, 23 at 7:00 p.m.
sharp. Already five bands have
indicated their willingness to
participate.
