Guests from Thedford and Hensall were welcomed. The devotions were taken by Mrs. A. Carter, Plans were made for the strawberry supper to be held June 29 and other business was completed before summer vacation. The program was in charge of Miss Marion 13issett and Mrs. A. Carter. Mrs. Anderson introduced Rev, & Mrs. Rokeby-Thomas from, Kirkton who very capably presented slides and spoke on their tour of Europe and the Passion play held at Oberam- mergau in Germany. This play is held every 10 years by the citizens of the town and people come from all over the world to see it. Lunch was served by Miss Verna Greenlee, Mrs, Wm Sims, Mrs. Evan Sims and Mrs, Clarence Heywood. Rev, R. V. Wilson heard the wedding vows that united in marriage Laura Esther French and Wayne Richard Hern at Zion West United Church, June 12, 1971. Mrs. Mary French and the late William French, R.R. 3, Lucan, are the bride's parents, and the groom is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Thomas G. Hem, R.R. Woodham. Sister of the groom, Mrs. Ross Ballantyne, provided the wed- ding music and accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Ray Mills. The bride, given in marriage by her brother, Earl French, wore a sheer silk organza over taffeta gown with daisy applique. Her full, shoulder length veil was held by an organza floral headpiece, and she carried a nosegay of red roses and white carnations. She was attended by her sister, Mrs. Garry Parkinson, as matron of honor, and by bridesmaids, Mrs. Earl French, sister of the groom and Mrs. Pat Moffatt. They wore white and capri blue floor length gowns of silk organza, trimmed with em- broidered flowers, Blue corn- flowers in their hair, and nosegays of mixed flowers complemented their ensembles. Lorne Hem was best man for his brother while Alan Hem, another brother, and Joe French, brother of the bride, ushered the guests. After the reception, held at The Huron-Perth Advisory Board of the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, held a picnic for the blind residents of both counties in Mitchell Park Lucan Community Centre, the bridal couple left for a honeymoon in Western Canada and the United States, the bride wearing a turquoise pant suit with white accessories. Mr. & Mrs. Hem will reside at R. R, 1, Woodham. Mrs. Hem is a 1971 graduate of Althouse College and will be on staff Mr, & Mrs. Hem will reside at R.R. 1, Woodham. Mrs, Hern is a 1971 graduate of Althouse College and will be on staff at S.H.D.H.S. this fall. Prior to the wedding, the bride was feted at showers by the Whalen community, the Zion community, and by Mrs. Bill Brock and Mrs. Earl French. Mrs. Mary French held a trousseau tea in her daughter's honor the week before the marriage. Mr. & Mrs. Leo Witmer and children visited with Mr. & Mrs. Wesley Witmer, Sunday. Weekend visitors with Mr, & Mrs. Garnet Hicks were Mr. & Mrs. Doug Fulton and boys of Stratford and Mrs. Donald McCann and family of Watford. Mayor & Mrs. Jack Delbridge are vactioning in the western provinces for a month. Couple honeymoon in western provinces recently and guests were present from Stratford, St. Marys, Goderich, Seaforth, Exeter and Gorrie. Games and contests were held and prizes went to Reg Sullivan, Gordon Annis, Miss Marion McLean, Miss Emily Philpott, Mrs. Knetsch, Don Webster, Mrs. Marlene Wilson, Mrs, Gwen Watson, Mrs. Janet McKay, Stuart Henry and Jack Clements. A staff of Field workers from Tweedsmuir Hall in London assisted with the games and planned the entertainment. They included Jack Clements, Jim Morris, Kent Butcher and Miss Emily Philpott, Transportation was provided by members of the Advisory Board. Jack Bews, Kingston, President of the Canadian Council of the Blind, Ontario Division, attended with Mrs. Bews, and presented a charter to the Blue Water Club which has joined the CCB, an organization operated by the blind for the blind and supported by the CNIB. Mr. Bews presented a guest book to the new chapter as a personal gift. It was accepted with thanks by the Club President, George Cox of Clinton, Miss Gladys Wilker, President of the CCB, Stratford Club, thanked the Advisory Board for the outing. During the supper hour, The Wildwoods of St. Marys played request numbers, and many of the picnic crowd joined in dan- cing. A vote of thanks was,,given to the Wildwoods who were presented through the Music Performers' Trust Funds, and Local 418 of the A.F.M.
