TOWNSHIP of STEPHEN AUDITOR'S REPORT
To: The Members of Council, and Ratepayers of the Corporation
of the Township of Stephen.
I have examined the 1970 financial statements of the Corporation
of the Township of Stephen and its local boards, which are listed
on the attached Index. My examination included a general review
of the accounting procedures and such tests of accounting records
and other supporting evidence as I considered necessary in the
circumstances.
The bank loan at December 31, 1970 is in excess of the
maximum allowable under section 329 of the Municipal Act.
In my opinion these financial statements present fairly the
financial position of the Corporation of the Township of Stephen
and its local boards as at December 31st, 1970, and the results of
their operations for the year then ended, in accordance with
accounting principles generally accepted for Ontario
municipalities applied on a basis consistent with that of the
preceding year.

Many hours of training and
instruction most certainly were
put into practise on Sunday af-
ternoon at the pool. A small boy,
Michael Parsons was rescued
from the crowded pool by one of
the guards and was given ar-
tificial respiration.
The fire department was
notified immediately and was at.
the pool within minutes. Although
their equipment was not needed
they were more than ready to
apply it.
The little swimmer was taken
to the hospital by Hoffman's
Ambulance Service and released
the same day by Dr. Gans.
The Exeter swimming pool
staff wishes to extend to the
firemen and Hoffman's
Ambulance Service a very sin-
cere thank you for the prompt
response to our Emergency call,
Registration for swimming
lessons is now opened and
parents are encouraged to
register their children at their
earliest convenience. The classes
are: Tadpoles, Frogs, Beginners,
Juniors, Intermediate, Seniors,
and Bronze Medallion. Adult
lessons will start on July 5th at
6:30 till 7:30..
This week the lifeguards are
kept busy with the children from

Both staff and students are en-
