holidays. Mrs. Elizabeth Riley,
Vice Grand reported for the
visiting committee and gave a
report of same.
The Inaugural meeting will be
held in Amber Lodge July 7 at 8
p.m, when all. Past Grands are to
attend,
Nominations closed with the

chase; Wee Grand, Mrs. Dorothy
Beaton; recording secretary,
Mrs. Leona Parke; financial
secretary, Mrs. Bertha
MacGregor; treasurer, Mrs.

The subordinate lodge
suggested a picnic of the I.O.O.F.
and. Rebekah lodges to be held at
Hensall Park July 11.

representative to the 81st
Rebekah Assembly in Toronto
and Mrs. Grace Thompson,
scholar attending, gave reports
on the sessions held there and
thanked the lodge for the
privilege of attending.

The Hensall and Chiselhurst
congregations are holding a
special service to honour Rev.
Harold Currie and his family at
Hensall United Church, June 27
The Rev. Clifford Waite, a close
friend of Rev. Currie will be guest
minister.
The Induction of Rev. Donald
Beck as pastor of the Hensall,
'Chiselhurst charge will be held in
the United Church, June 29 at 8
p.m.
The Rev. Bruce Guy of Dash-
wood will be in charge of the
service and the Rev. Robert
Rayrnont of Goderich will give
the message.
A social hour will follow the
service in the Fellowship Hall.
ANNIVERSARY
Many persons attended an-
niversary services in Hensall
United Church, Sunday to
welcome back to this area Rev.
Harold Snell, B,A., B.D. of
Riverside United Church, Lon-
don, who delivered the sermons.
In the morning he chose to
speak on "The Church To-Day -
Alive, Active, Aware." For his
evening discourse he spoke on
"At Every Corner."
The Senior and juniqr choirs
provided special music for the
morning service, while the
Huronia Choir were present for
the evening. Mrs. J. Turkheim
presided at the organ and Rev.
Currie was in charge of the
service.
Rileys meet
for reunion
The 24th Riley reunion was held
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ross
Riley, June 13. Winners of prizes
were Bret Stinson and Allison
Farr, for youngest children.

Reports of standing conveners
were given by Mrs. Hoggarth,
Mrs. Brodie, Mrs. Chalmers,
Mrs. Drummond and Mrs.
Campbell Eyre. The report of the
District Annual was given by
Mrs. J. Drummond.
Leadership for the 4-H club,
Dairy Fare, was discussed and it
was decided not to enter an
exhibit at Exeter and Zurich
fairs.
Mrs. Drummond conducted a
contest. The President Mrs. R.
Bell had charge of the business,
and Mrs. Grant MacLean the
.program. Mrs. Kinsman gave
courtesy remarks.
Lunch was served by Mrs. Alex
McGregor and her committee.

from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Monday

July 1 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
A recreation program for
Hensall children starts July 12
every other day from 2:30 to 4:30
p.m. until July 30. A meeting of
the parents will be held at the
arena June 30 at 8 p.m. to discuss
recreation activities. Help is

Fiddle contest huge success
and district news
The first lienSall Kinsmen
sponsored Ontario Fiddle contest
was a huge success more than 60
entries performing in the two-
night show.
The crowds for the two
divisions of the fiddle contest and
a dance that followed the
Saturday night performance was
estimated at 1,600.
Contest chairman. Wayne Reid
said the event would become an
annual affair, "We did well
enough to be back again next
year with a bigger and better
show.
The contest drew contestants
from all parts of Ontario and one
carload of spectators came from
Pennsylvania. Overnight cam-
ping facilities were available for
visitors.
The grand championship and
the Ward Allen Memorial trophy
went to Gord Elson of Ingersoll,
Runner-up was Eleanor
Moorehead, Fergus and Jerry St.
Marie of London was third. The
trophy was presented by Jim
Allen,
In the "B" division for ladies,
the Walt McNichol Memorial
trophy went to 'Linda Godkin of
Galt with Ruby Little of Parkhill
Placing second.
The "C" class title and the
Hotel Hensall trophy went to
John Givens, Burford with Bill
Smith of Dunnville second. This
class was for contestants under
the age of 20.
The 55 years and over class was
won by 63-year-old Alfred
Renaud of Windsor who took the
Hyde Brothers trophy. Robert
Rennie, Shakespeare at 72 and
Claude Hunter of Windsor, 71
were next in line.
The novelty class was won by
14-year-old Bill Smith of Dunn-

Granton with Lyle Kernohan,

St. Marys, Mrs. Murray Baker of
Hensall assisted with judging of

The Home Economics meeting
of Kippen East Womens Institute
was held at the home of Mrs.
Roger Hoornaert with Mrs. J.
Chalmers co-hostess.
Catherine Hunt, Home
Economist for Huron -County
discussed material, synthetic and
man made fibres, giving the
origin, uses, and care. She was
introduced by Mrs. Grant
MacLean, and thanked by Mrs,
A. Hoggarth.
The roll call was answered by a
sewing tip, and the motto, "A
stich in time saves nine," was
given by Mrs. Al Hoggarth.
Mrs. Grant MacLean gave a
reading, "The Great Hair
Switch," and Mrs. Bell's reading
was "Other Fads,"
Roobol in the hospital.
Mr. & Mrs. Don Rigby, Stewart
and Jane Knights, Blenheim,
spent the weekend with Stewart
McQueen and Mr. & Mrs. Harry
Snell.
Larry Jones, Moncton N.B.
spent the past two weeks with Mr.

Mr, & Mrs. Harry Hoy and Mrs.
Ed. Fink have returned from a
month's tour of England,
Scotland, Belgium, Holland,
Germany, Luxenburg, and
France. They report having had a
wonderful time and having met
many interesting and kind people
wherever they went. Canada still
remains their favorite country,
however.

recent guest with Mr, & Mrs.
Harry Horton. Mr. Ward was a
school chum of. Mr. Horton's in
England.
Mrs. Sim Roobol is a patient in
South Huron Hospital.
Miss Mattie Ellis is a patient in
South Huron Hospital.
Mr. & Mrs. Laird Mickle
returned last week from a
pleasant two week's visit in
Hamilton and while there visited
their daughter Ann in Toronto,
and Mrs. Clifford Cox, the former
Mary Stewart who taught several
years ago in the Continuation
School in Hensall,
Mr. & Mrs. Don Dodds,
Seaforth, Sim Roobol, M. Van
Dyk, Hensall, attended the
funeral of Mrs. A. Gelderland,
Ridgetown,
Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Mickle,
Pamela, Judith and John, and
Mrs. Florence Joynt visited
recently with the former's
brother Charles in Hamilton,
Mr, & Mrs. A. T. Van Dyke,
Mrs. A, Poole, of Three Rivers,
Quebec, visited with Sim Roobol
and also with Mrs. Roobol in the
hospital and attended the funeral
of the late Mrs. A. Gelderland.
