He gave a spirited sermon entitled "Cosmic Conciousness." The choir sang two anthems, accompanied by Miss Gayle Mardlin on the organ. Rev. W. C. Tupling introduced Mr. Cumming as a former minister of the church. He is now living in London and serving as assistant minister at Empress United Church, Next Sunday is communion Sunday and the last Sunday before the minister's vacation. It will also be a celebration of the 20th year since Mr. Tupling's ordination. June 18, the C.G,I.T. banquet will be held in the basement of the Lucan United Church. The guest speaker will be Alf Williams. June 22, there will be a youth party at the home of Jeanette Barr for all teens. June 27, and succeeding Sundays United Church members are invited to worship with the congregation at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, until August 1st, when Rev. R, A. Carson will be taking his vacation. Anglican Last Wednesday the Deanery of West Middlesex Church Women met in Lucan. Holy Communion was celebrated by Rev. R. A, Carson who welcomed the ladies to Lucan, Mrs. Frances Wallace of Mount gifts. Afterwards lunch was served. PERSONALS Mr. & Mrs, Donald Dinney attended the Bavarian festival at Frankenmuth, Michigan. They report the parade and flowers in the town were beautiful. Mr. & Mrs. Jack Dye and Chris spent Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Bob Dolphin of St. Thomas. RobertDolphin returned home to St. Thomas after holidaying with his grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Jack Dye. . Barbara Preszcator spent the weekend with Joan Kleruke of RR 2 Centralia. Robert Haist, Garry Dinney and Garry Wein spent Sunday with the former's sister, Miss Margaret Haist of Caledonia. The rural dean, the Rev. G. Johnson of Ilderton, presided at the clergy meeting. After lunch the ladies were given a visual presentation of the church in Pakistan by Mrs. Esther Jawaher. The executive of the Deanery were returned by acclamation. The meeting closed with tea served by the ladies of Holy Trinity. Anniversary Sunday, the preacher will be the Rev. George Hamilton LTh. of Pelee Island. Rev. R. A. Carson will preach at a special Masonic Service on Pelee Island. Last week, Mrs. F. Hardy was incorrectly quoted as saying St. Paul had two wives. The error is regretted. Trial is given to new hymns The general meeting of the U.C.W. of Lucan United Church was held at the church last Tuesday with 14 ladies present. Worship service was led by Mrs, M. H. Hodgins and Mrs. Sheridan Revington. Mrs. Clarence Hardy was present to try over some of the anglican hymns which will be in the new combined hymn book. Mrs. Revington introduced the program by reading an article on the new collection of hymns. 8y MISS ELLA MOR LOCK oFt ED I TON A book on the history of Crediton, Ontario, was recently sent to Crediton England in honor of St. Boniface celebrations being staged there this month. Mrs. Wilfred Mack, who was instrumental in having the book compiled, received the following letter this week from a resident of ('rediton's English counterpart: Fermaine, Threshes, Crediton, Devon Dear Mrs. Mack, I feel sure you will forgive me for writing informally, but I must let you know as soon as possible that your parcel from Crediton Canada, has reached me safely, What a wonderful surprise I had on opening it! It was just like Christmas time! . trying to guess what was in it and who it could be from! How good of you all to work so hard and produce such a work of art! You will, of course, be hearing from the Society officially but may I say a big "thank you" for the pleasure your gift has given to me alone. Last evening I attended the official welcome for the Burgomaster of Dokkum and his Mr. & Mrs. Mervin Pym visited John Prance, Exeter, Sunday. David, Peter and Jeffrey Gotelaer of Ridgetown spent the weekend with their grand- parents, Mr. & Mrs. H. Prance, while their parents holidayed at Toronto. Norman Vincent and son Ira and Helen Bertwistle of Grand Bend visited Mrs. Wm. Gill of Thedford, Friday. High winds recently blew out considerable garden crop. A'side effect of January's great blizzard was felt at this week's meeting of the Middlesex County Board of Education. It seems that the student council at North Middlesex District High School at Parkhill depends to a con- siderable extent on the financial receipts of its popular winter carnival, When the blizzard all but wiped out the event the students were left with a $628 deficit. The Board has agreed to pay this deficit provided that the student council reimburses the board in the fall. With summer recreation programs being planned in many communities, the Board agreed to let certain school athletic facilities and equipment be used for public programs at a nominal fee. Repeating last year's suc- cessful arrangement, the North Dorchester Parks and Recreation Committee will be able to use Dorchester High School track and equipment for an eight-week period at a fee of $25.00. It was very much admired by the visitors present and a press reporter took a photograph of the inscription page. Today, I have attended a Saxon meal which was held in the oldest room of our parish church. This room goes back in date to the 13th century -our meal was exactly as it would have been at the time of St. Boniface - with the very bread made of home grown, home ground flour front a Saxon farm. There are many other ac- tivities taking place on this our Festival Day, as well as Protestant and Catholic services in the different churches. Tomorrow H. R. H. the Prin- cess Margaret is visiting the town, attending Church, visiting the Statue of the Saint erected to his memory and then meeting the members of the St. Boniface Society, It will be my priviledge to show her your book of Crediton in Ontario, I must once again say "Thank you." The group plans to reconvene in the fall. Mr. & Mrs. Will Oestricher spent several days with Mrs. R. W. McBain, Grimsby, and Dr. & Mrs. S. L. Honey, Fenwick. Sunday, Rev. R. V. Wilson, Centralia was guest speaker at Zion United Church, his message `Two Ways." He also addressed the Sunday School. Paul and Wally Fydenchuk were guests at a barbecue at the home of their ,hockey coach, Don Appleby, Huron Park. Sunday afternoon an area umpires' clinic was held in the Community Hall for the Ontario Baseball Association. Drapes have been prepared for the windows of the Cub Hall. The Strathroy, Mount Brydges 'and Komoka. Among reports received by the Board was a half-hour video tape program on open area classrooms in Middlesex County elementary schools. Several teachers were present at the Board meeting and they discussed with trustees special features of these teaching areas. Another report outlined plans for an extensive outdoor education program at Medway High School that will include a five-day canoe trip through Algonquin Park.
