In response to a request from the Indian Ecumenical Con- ference, Anglican and United Churches have called on their people to observe June 21st as National Indian Day of Prayer. 1970 amount raised for the national Mission and Service Fund was $11,452,712. The United Church of Canada has produced over 200 sound films on the work of the Church in Canada and overseas, Total membership in The United Church of Canada at the end of 1970 was 1,033,533 - a decline of 15,000 from the previous year. Total number of members and adherents is 2,368,846. A new hymn book for use in Anglican and United Churches will be off press in July. It will contain 507 hymns, of which 150 are new. Fifty seven Canadian authors and 45 Canadian musicians have contributed a share of the words and music. Bequests to The United Church of Canada during 1970. totalled $1,374,813.10 Of 147 bequests, 63 were under $999.00 47 under $4,999.00; 19 under $9,999.00; 16 under $49,999,00, and two over $50,000, The United Church's Division of Mission in Canada, when it comes into being in January, 1972, will be the fourth of five divisions recommended by the Twentieth General Council in 1962. Glen Wright, 13.4., B.D. was the officiating minister, and Robert Cameron provided traditional wedding music at the organ. Escorted down the aisle by her father, the bride was stunning in a high waisted dress of peau de sole trimmed with organdy and appliqued French lace. Her cathedral trainwas trimmedwith matching lace and she wore a bride's picture hat with pale pink trim. She carried a nosegay of white daisies, roses and fern. The bridal attendants com- plemented the bride by wearing pink dresses and matching garden party hats. Their flowers were nosegays of daisies and pink carnations, They were Mrs. Cynthia Beyer, Mount Forest, as matron of honor, and Barbara Hyttenrauch, Windsor, Anna Carpenter, Hamilton, and Susan Lawrance, Toronto, as bridesmaids. Guss McKinnon of Windsor was best man, and the guests were ushered to their places by Harvey Beyer, Mount Forest, Fred May, Exeter, and Gordon Hyl- tenrauch, Windsor. A reception followed the ceremony at The Oakwood Inn, after which the newlyweds left for a honeymoon in New England and New Brunswick with the bride wearing a smart navy blue pant dress with white ac- cessories. The future home of Mr. & Mrs. Hyttenrauch is Sombra where the groom is with the Ontario Provincial Police and the bride is employed with the Canada Trust Company. R‘ilde — Ea/telt Mums, peonies and iris formed the background in Thames Road United Church when Rev. Stewart Miner performed the ceremony that united in marriage Marilyn Donna Baker and Glenn William Rohde, June 5, 1971. Parents of the couple are Mr. & Mrs. Howard Baker, Grand Bend, and Mr. & Mrs. William Rohde of Thames Road. Miss Agnes Bray provided the wedding music and accompanied the soloist, Mrs. William Cann. Given in marriage by her brother-in-law, Fred Nethway, Strathroy, the bride was char- ming in a French chantilly lace gown with empire lines and ruffle trim, Her ensemble was en- chanced by a floor length train of chantilly lace and a three tiered nylon veil. She carried a nosegay of mauve and white carnations with baby's breath and daisies. The bride's sister, Mrs. Willie Denomme, was matron of honor while Judy Ferguson acted as bridesmaid. They wore mauve polyester crepe dresses with purple lace trim and matching headdresses. Their flowers were nosegays similar to the bride's. Best man was William Hooper, Doug Rohde ushered the guests, After a reception in the church parlors the couple left for a wedding trip to Niagara Falls, the bride wearing a pink lace pant outfit with black ac- cessories. ' Mr. & Mrs. Rohde are residing at R.R. 1, Woodham. The bride is employed at Hall Lamp Limited, Huron Park, and the groom is employed at Boise Cascade, Hensall. Prior to her wedding the bride was honored at a shower held in Exeter United Church and hosted by Mrs. Willie Denomme. Mrs. William Rohde held Open House in the bride's honor, May 29. PuNglae — efl Lady Chapel of St. Peter's Cathedral, London, was the setting for the marriage of Rita Marie Glavin, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Glavin, R.R. 2, Crediton, and James Arthur Thorne, son of Mr. & Mrs. Ed Thorne, R.R. 1, Crediton, June 11, 1971 with Father Tourgney of- ficiating. Elva Finkbeiner supplied the wedding music. The bride chose an empire styled gown of peau de soie with an over dress of chantilly lace which draped into a chapel train. Her headdress was a petite French cap and she carried a bouquet of pink carnations, red roses with red streamers. Vicki Thorne, sister of the groom, attended the bride and wore a pale blue chiffon dress and a matching picture hat. Huron Hope at Olympics Six senior students of Huron Hope School travelled from London to Toronto by train last week to attend the Olympics for the Mentally Retarded being staged at the Canadian National Exhibition grounds. They viewed the games and attended several of the Olympic clinics. With their school banner, they marched with other children, over the bridge to Ontario Place. Later, they went by subway to Sick Children's Hospital to visit Bernadette Van Raay, a former classmate, who is a patient there. They were accompanied by their teacher, Mrs.EleanorScott, and four volunteer workers, Mrs. Margaret Purdy, Mrs, Alma Godbolt, Mrs. Rosemary Jacobs and John Payne Jr. King family • • • enioy picnic The annual King picnic was held at Riverview Park June 13 with 45 sitting down to a one o'clock dinner, The Russell King family directed a good line of sports. Winners were, Joy Webb, Billie Preszcator, Nancy Preszcator, Teddy Maler, Diane Presz- ea ter, Kathy Scott, Darlene Webby Patti Neeb, Glenda Pfaff, Wayne King, Ken Eagleson, Elaine Pfaff, Jean Neil, Jean Jennison, Earl Weil, Mrs, L. Hill, Relays were won by Ken PreszcatOr's side and Mervyn Webb's side; guessing rioaeS, Velma and Ken Preszcator, Ontario, the bride wearing a white lace pant suit. They will reside in London where the groom will continue his studies at Fanshawe College. Social Service, Men, and Women. Already in existence are the Divisions of Finance; Com- munication; Ministry, Personnel and Education; The fifth division will deal with world mission and ecumenical affairs.
