Kinsmen pitcher
tosses no-hitter
While six games were
scheduled during the first week of
action in the Exeter and district
Rec softball league only one
game was played. Rain took care
of the other five contests.
The game that was completed
was a pitcher's battle from start
to finish.
The Kinsmen club blanked the
new entry from Hensall by 2-0
count. The feature of the game
was the pitching performance of
Jim Johnston of the winning
Kinsmen team.
The hard-throwing right
hander struck out 17 opposing
batters and turned in a no-hit
performance.
The Kinsmen got all their hits,
three in number off Hensall
chucker Bill Taylor in the fourth
inning to score both runs. Taylor
was also effective racking up an
even dozen strike-outs.
