80TH BIRTHDAY
Peter Eisenbach was honored
on the occasion of his 80th bir-
thday, May 14, by the Blue Water
Shrine Club in the Dashwood
Community Centre.
Peter was presented with an
engraved silver tray by Noble
Harry Williams, In his remarks
he said, "Peter, to each of us is a
treasured friend, He is always
willing to extend a helping hand
and advice. We wish him health
and happiness for many more
birthdays."
ORPHA CLUB
Mrs. W. Desjardine, Oakwood
Park, was host to the Orpha Club
pot luck dinner Tuesday evening,
Following the dinner a short
business meeting was conducted
by the president. The group voted
to give the entire proceeds from
dinner to the Medical Centre
fund.
A letter of thanks was read
from the C.A,S. Sarnia for the
Easter donations.
The balance of the evening was
spent playing court whist. Miss
Mary Yeo won top score and Mrs.
C. Kennedy won the low score,
Spot prizes donated by the
European Art Gallery were won
by Mrs. G. Desjardines, Mrs.
Eva Allister, Mrs, Val Burke and
Mrs. H. Dobson. The lucky draw
prize was won by Mrs. Leroy

Women's Institute held their
May meeting in the village hall
last Wednesday afternoon.
Horticulture was the theme.
Mrs. Gerry Love convened a
sing song of flower songs. A
contest was enjoyed by naming
provincial floral emblems.
The motto given by Mrs. R,
Kading was "The heart of the
garden where thought flowers
grow, the thoughts that we think
are the seeds that we sow.'
The roll call was answered by
naming the flower of members
birth month.
During lunch an exchange of
plants and slips among the
members brought the meeting to
a close.

The May meeting of the
Crediton W.I. was held at the hall
May 19.
Mrs. Earl Neil opened the
meeting with the ode and collect
and chaired the program with
the topic 'Let's Visit the Far
East.' She was dressed in the
traditional kimona and wooden
sandals (geta).
Mona Hodgins played a piano
solo and Nancy McDonald of
Clinton spoke on cerebral palsy.
The motto was given by Mrs. H.
Hodgins: if you see a fellow
without a smile give him one of
yours. Smile was sung and Mrs.
H. Andrews read a poem entitled,
A Face Without A Smile.
Mona Hodgins tap danced
accompanied by her mother,
Mrs. H. Hodgins.
Mrs. Neil told of her
experiences while in Japan for
Expo and of some other places
visited, Tokyo, Osaka, Thailand,
Hong Kong, Macau and Guam.
Souvenirs were displayed and
slides shown. The members
sampled Chinese food with
chopsticks.
Mrs. Bruce Shapton presided
for the business meeting. It was
decided to again sponsor an
adopted child. Mrs. Ed Hendrick
is the new kitchen committee
member and Mrs. Shapton was
named as public relations officer
for the Annual at Hensall.
The program planning meeting
will be May 27 at the hall.
