Bell, the president, had charge of the business and presented a gift to Baby Chalmers from the Institute. Mrs. R, Kinsman entertained with several piano selections. Readings were given by Mrs. R. Bell, and Mrs. J. Drummond. Plans were made for the bus trip to Toronto June 23 when the group will tour Canada Dry Ltd., and the Science Building. Anyone wishing to go should contact Mrs. Drummond or Mrs. Kinsman. Voting delegates to the District Annual were Mrs. R. Bell, Mrs Mrs. Drummond, Mrs, Connolly. Mrs. Al Hoggarth, convener of Home Economics had charge of the program. Mrs. Alderdice conducted a contest. Lunch was served by Mrs. Connolly and her committee. Personals Mr. & Mrs. William O'Brien and son of Sarnia visited last week with Mrs. O'Brien's parents, Mr. & Mrs. Joe Flynn, and also with Mr..& Mrs. Gerald Flynn, Mr, & Mrs. Harold Parker and Patsy were recent visitors with Mrs, Eva Parker and Bill in London. Several Past Noble Grands of Amber Rebekah Lodge namely, Mrs, Olga Chipchase, MrS. Beatrice Richardson, Mrs, Bertha MacGregor , Mrs. Maggie Campbell, Mrs. Ruby Bell, Mrs. Margaret Ingram, Mrs, Grace Thompson, Mrs, Evelyn Mac- heath, Mrs. Pearl Eyre in company with Past Grands from Exeter, Clinton and Seaforth enjoyed a bus trip to Ontario Place, Toronto, this week. Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Holland, Gwen and Michael of Thamesford visited this week with Mr. & Mrs. James Sangster and Brad. Firemen stage fireworks show Hensall Firemen staged a spectacular fireworks display at Hensall Park, Monday evening at dusk. It was attended by fifteen hundred spectators who admired the $600 display. John Baker was M,C. for the evening speaking briefly. Winners in the draw were: first, girls or boys bicycle, John Gross, Listowel; second, poloroid land camera, Todd O'Brien, Sarnia; third, boys or girls Timex watch, Cathy Kirk, Exeter. Bible canvass Fifteen canvassers from Hensall United, Carmel Presbyterian and St. Paul's Anglican churches canvassed the village and collected $238,65 for the Bible Society. Mrs. Sim Roobol headed the project. PASS MUSIC EXAMS In recent Weatern Ontario Conservatory of Music exams, the following were successful: Brenda Pepper, Grade III honours; Wilhelmina Blom, Grade V, pass, The girls are pupils of Mrs. F. Forrest. The 4-H girls and their mothers were special guests at the Home Economics meeting of Kippen East Women's Institute held in the Legion Hall, May 19. Mrs, R. Kinsman was hostess with Mrs, J, Drummond as co-hostess. Club I entertained with a skit "Kippen Fashion Boutique". Club II made sewing comments on seams, zippers, facing and hems. Kippen Club III com- mented on Mix and Match clothes, an easy and convenient way of making a few outfits do for several occasions, Mrs. Al Hoggarth gave a humorous reading. The motto, keep the family yearning within Gwen Hendrick, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Hugh Hendrick, Kippen, who has completed her third year at U.W.O, left by plane Monday to continue her studies in Spain. Mr. & Mrs. Douglas McBeath and son of Toronto visited Mr. & Mrs. Alex McBeath over the holiday weekend. At the recent musical festival in Stratford, Darryl Vor- stenbosch, great grandson of Robert Thomson, Kippen , and son of Bert & Audrey (Priestip) Vorstenbosch R.R. 2, Mitchell won first prize for boy's solo, six years and under. the family earnings, was given by Mrs. Harry Caldwell. Donna Whitehouse a recent winner of advanced honours was Joint installation at Hensall legion Joint installation of Hensall Branch of Canadian Legion 468, and Legion Ladies' Auxiliary was held in the Legion Hall Saturday evening with Blyth installing team in charge, Legion officers are as follows: past president Paul Neilands; president Vic Stan; vice presidents, Murray Traquair, Jim Chalmers; Sgt-At-Arms, W. M. Bell; secretary-treasurer, Sam Rannie; service bureau officer, Fred Beer. The executive consists of Wilmer Dalrymple, Jim Stan, Grant McClinchey, Stan Kochan, Larry Uyl, Garnet Allan, E. R. Davis, Jim Smale. The ladies' auxiliary slate is composed of: past president, Mrs. Garnet Allan; president, Mrs. E. R. Davis; vice presidents, Mrs. Mildred Chalmers, Mrs. Beatrice Uyl; secretary, Mrs. W. H. Bell; treasurer, Mrs. Grant Bisback; Sgt-At-Arms, Mrs. Clarence Reid; sports officer, Mrs. Clarence Reid; pianist, Mrs. Ed. Munn. Mrs, Howard Smale, Mrs. Wm. Smale, Mrs, Mary Taylor, Mrs. John Skea and Mrs. Paul Neilands comprise the executive. Mrs. Ken Brazier, Michelle, Carol and Cathy, Brantford, spent the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Passmore. Mr. & Mrs. Pat Weir, Timmins, spent the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Passmore and also visited other Duncan relatives in the com- munity. Mr. & Mrs. Chas. Jeffery visited Sunday afternoon with Mr. & Mrs. Harold Jeffery, Exeter, and Sunday evening Mr. & Mrs. Harry Coates, Exeter, visited with Mr, & Mrs. Chas Jeffery. John Miner biked to Sarnia Saturday to visit with his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. & Mrs, David Milliken. Sunday, they were guests with Rev. Stewart and Mrs. Miner and Charles. Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Thomson, Janice, Scott and Steven, Woodham, Mr, & Mrs. Glenn Jeffery, Alan and Connie visited Sunday evening with Mr. & Mrs. William Rohde. Mr. & Mrs, Pat Weir, Timmins, Mrs. Gilbert Duncan, Exeter, Mr. & Mrs. Don Richardson, St. Marys, were guests Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Ken Duncan. The flowers in the church Sunday were placed by the family of the late Gilbert Duncan. The sympathy of the community is extended to the family. Sympathy is also extended to Mr. & Mrs. Mac Hodgert and family in the passing of Mrs. Hodgert's father, the late Wilmar Howatt, Londesboro. Mrs. Lloyd Ballantyne, Mrs. William Rohde and Mrs. Jack Stewart served lunch to the presidents and vice-presidents of Huron-Perth Presbytery United Church Women. Mr. & Mrs, Earl Dolliver, Dorchester, who won the $30,000 home in London Monday evening are a brother-in-law and sister of Mrs, Donald Kernick. Rev. Moyer of near Sarnia will be guest speaker Sunday as Rev. Stewart Miner will take the anniversary service there. The graduation for the Tyro and Explorer groups will be held June 6 at Elimville United Church during the church ser- vice.
