United Church last Monday with 30 girls in attendance. For the fourth consecutive meeting the 11 Gold Star girls had perfect attendance, Ruth Ann Atkinson, Cindy Donaldson, Janice Kestle, Karen Mason, Karen Henderson, Kathy Hearn, Joanne Hodgins, Linda Hayter, Jean Barker, Sheila Smith and Brenda Scott were presented with their second Gold Stars by Mrs. Keith Kraul. In the ceremony each girl told what she liked best about Explorers. The girls were divided into three groups: the Red Stars studied memory work; Blue Stars worked on a poster, "How the Word gets around" and Gold Stars practised a play"Come on World". Carol Mason assisted girls in cutting out Thank You cards, Explorers have collected enough money to buy seven Bibles for Brazil. MR. AND MRS. GARY WILCOX Constable marries Suzanne Jeanne Kennedy, given in marriage by her brother, Russell Kennedy, became the bride of Gary Norman Wilcox at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, May 1, 1971, with Rev. R. A. Carson officiating. Organist Mrs. Clarence Hardy supplied the wedding music and accompanied the soloist, Maureen Smith, in the church which was decorated with white and lilac colored carnations and glads. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Kennedy and the late Leslie Kennedy, and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Truman Wilcox, Pickering. The lovely bridal ensemble consisted of a gown of white lagoda with long train trimmed with lace. It also featured a high collar, long puffed sleeves, and a floor-length Manteau veil trimmed with lace. The bride's bouquet was of pink roses, lilac carnations and baby's breath. Mrs. Ray McBride, Agincourt, was matron of honor while her small daughter, Susan was an enchanting flower girl. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Peter Vangeel, London, and Gwen MacRae, Arva. The adult attendants wore empire waisted gowns of purple polyester crepe slit up the sides to waist, with lilac under-slacks. They carried pink roses and lilac carnations. The flower girl was dressed the same in a lilac gown with purple under-slacks, and she held a , basket of flowers. Best man was Bob Cargill, Pickering, and the guests were ushered by Bryan and Keith Wilcox, twin brothers of the groom. All three men are from Pickering. After a reception at the Lucan Legion Hall the couple left on a wedding trip to Niagara Falls, the bride wearing a navy blue pant suit with cape jacket and red accessories. Mr, and Mrs. Wilcox will reside in Lucan where the groom is an officer with the Ontario Provincial Police. A final push on the sale of tickets for the colour TV, black and white TV and radio will be made. The prizes will be displayed in front of the liquor store Friday night and all day Saturday with Lions in at- tendance selling tickets. The draw will be made May 24 at Lions Ball game behind the arena. June 5, the children of Lucan and Biddulph will be walking from Granton to Lucan to raise funds for the purchase of playground equipment and general improvements of Lions park. The children are asked to be at Lions Park, Lucan ast 1:30 p.m. They will be transported to Granton for the return walk. Everyone taking part in the walk will be treated to a picnic in the park June 9 at 6:00 p.m. at which time they are asked to turn in their pledges. For further information please call 227-4708. Plans were presented by a committee for a carnival and trade fair to be held in Lucan arena, August 13-14 will feature two shows by recording star Earl Heywood plus radio per- sonalities, King Perry and Art Bartell, There will also be free midway rides for children; junior and senior talent show; bingo and displays by local and district merchants. It is shaping up to be an event of interest to everyone. Mrs. Clarence Hardy presided at the organ for the service for Rogation Sunday. Rev. Carson, in his sermon, said that we live in an age when people are constantly faced with crises. Everywhere we turn there is labour unrest, student unrest and revolution and said govern- ments, business, and people in general are not doing anything about the situation. He sighted the surplus of University graduates and school teachers. What do the local School Boards do? Foreman, youngest daughter of William and Rebecca Jane Foreman, formerly of Granton, died in Runneymede Hospital, in Toronto, May 13, 1971. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Kathaleen Davey of Woodstock and was predeceased by another sister Mrs. Mitchell Haskett in December 1961. She is also survived by two neices and one nephew. The body rested at the C. Haskett and Son Funeral Home, where the funeral service was held Saturday, with Rev. R. A. Carson of Holy Trinity Chrch, officiating, Interment in Birr Anglican Cemetery. The pallbearers were Calvin Haskett, Brian and Bruce Haskett, Jack Cumming, Jack Graham and Guy Graham. Miss Foreman was a school teacher for 35 years in Toronto, and had been in Runneymede Hospital for 10 years. Mrs. Frank Hardy visited her son Harry, and a friend Mrs, Jane Somerville, in St. Joseph's Hospital last Saturday. Mrs. Somerville, who suffered a severe heart attack recently is improving. Mrs. Eldon Hodgson has returned after visiting for a week with her granddaughter, Mrs. Allan Robinson, at New Ham- burg. Miss Lina Abbott was among the large group of McCormick Home residents who last Saturday enjoyed the Com- mercial Travellers' drive to Komoka. On their return they were entertained by 40 gaily- dressed dancers from a Dor- chester Dancing School, Mrs. Thomas Thompson and Tommy, Mrs. Ruth Ann Chisholm from London and Mr. and Mrs. William Fischer, Cheryl and Chris from Komoka, were Sunday visitors with Mrs. Katherine Fischer. Mrs. Bob Coleman has returned home after spending a few days with her grand- daughter, Mrs. John McTaggert and family in London. Saturday, Archdeacon Foreman and sister Nellie, at- tended the funeral service of their cousin, Miss Bessie Foreman of Toronto, at the C. Haskett and Son Funeral Home. T-A photo School children see police display Officers of the OPP gave a demonstration of their equipment and activities to about 500 area school children at the Legion Hall, Friday last. The police dog, Arab, was present which interested the children. A police cruiser and a motorcycle were on show, as well as scuba-diving and radar equipment. The breathalizer was also shown. Slides on police work were screened.
