The years may have added up, but there is still a twinkle in her alert blue eyes .., and sometimes there are tears as she recounts the goodness of friends and relatives who come to visit her. Her china cupboard is filled with gifts from many of these friends, and one of her chief - pleasures is to show them to visitors. In the cupboard, also, are precious pieces of china given to her when she was a little girl by her grandmother, and other dishes that belonged to her own mother. "People are so good so kind,'.' she murmurs as she fondles a piece of china and recalls memories of the giver. Then, in a brisker manner she takes the pencil from behind her ear and says, "Well now, I must get on with my news..." After a reception at the Polish Hall the newly-weds left for a honeymoon in Florida. The bride wore a pink and white dress and coat with black accessories for travelling. Mrs. William Griffin Thomas, Oakwood Park, Grand Bend, was united in marriage with Ronald Bryan Howarth, son of Mr. & Mrs, Walter M. Howarth, London, Ontario, May 8, 1971, in Grand Bend United Church. Rev. H. G. Dobson and Rev, Joseph F. Hardy solemnized the ceremony before a setting of yellow candles and daisies, Yellow bows marked the guests' pews. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a traditional gown of white slipper satin trimmed with seed pearls and featuring a flowing train, A Juliette cap with seed pearl trim held the waist-length veil. She carried a cascade of yellow roses with olive-green velvet streamers. Barbara-Anne Thomas was her sister's bridal attendant. She was dressed in a floor length gown of yellow crepe with puff sleeves and empire waist. Her bouquet was a • 'People are so kind' Writes for T-A over 20 years Mrs. James H. Paton, The Times- Advocate Clandeboye • correspondent for over 20 years says she,`still loves to write for the paper'. She gets most of her news items through phoning her friends and neighbors whose names and numbers are catalogued ,in alphabetical order in a worn, dog- eared little book. Life has brought many changes to the 77 year old lady who has lived all her years in the Clan- deboye area. Her husband, James, died in 1967, four years after the couple had celebrated their 50th wed- ding anniversary. She lives quietly now on her farm north of the village, but at one time her home hummed with activities as she and her husband entertained neighbors, members of their church and of the various • organizations to which they belonged. Mrs. Paton is a charter member of Victoria Lodge Ladies Orange Benevolent Association, Lucan, and a Past Mistress and officer of the Lodge. A devoted churchwoman she was an active member of the Women's Auxiliary and the Guild of St. James Church where she was organist for 20 years. Always a lover of music she taught piano lessons in Biddulph before she was married and reached her pupils homes by horse and buggy. Mrs. Paton still loves to 'ripple the ivory' and as she thumbs through the worn sheet music she • MR, AND MRS. LARRY E. BALLANTYNE • • • One of the new books recently acquired at the Exeter library is The Treasury of Canadian Glass. The authors, Doris and Peter Unitt have dedicated the book to Vera and Allan Fraser whose collection of glass was rarely excelled. Of further interest to local readers is the fact that acknowledgements include several area collectors who made available some of the pieces of their collections for photographing. Besides Mr. & Mrs. Fraser these ,include Mrs. Don Ecker, Mrs. Gerald Glenn, of Exeter; Mr. & Mrs. Joe Creech, and Mr. & Mrs. Cardiff Cline of St. Marys. Other books that have arrived at the library are The Canadian Who's Who; The Canadiana Cook Book by Mme Jehane Benoit; Don't Move! by Eric Nicol; Their's was the Kingdom, by Deldefield; Terror in Quebec, by G. Morf. Trails of a Wilderness Wan- derer, by Andy Russell; Melbury Square, by Dorothy Eden; Scotch on the Rocks, by D. Hurd, and many many other books of in- terest. The library loan system reaches further and further. Librarian Mrs. John Schroeder recently had a request from the Regina University for the micro- film of an old Times- Advocate. Set communion table-at ACW The regular meeting of the A.C.W. of Trivitt Memorial church was held Monday evening at the parish hall with Mrs. R. Doidge in the chair. Roll call was answered with each member bringing a filling for a pie for the chicken bar- becue, May 26. Devotions were taken by Mrs. A. Carter and Mrs. Harvey Andrews. The program committee took the members over to the chapel in the church where Miss Marion Bissett capably showed how to set the communion table. She was assisted by Mrs. Doidge, and thanked by Mrs. Walter Bentley. During the remainder of the meeting it was decided to hold the annual strawberry supper. Rev. Anderson closed the meeting with the benediction. Lunch was served by Mrs. Homer Russell and Mrs. Nelson Wells. The church choir provided the wedding music while the bride was ushered down the aisle by her father, She wore a lace covered satin gown with empire waist, long puffed sleeves, high collar and button trim down the front. She carried shasta daisies and yellow roses. Lynn Stewart was maid of honor for her sister while Jo- Anne Stewart, Marlene Wade and Coleen Marzec, all of London, and Heather Cunningham, Stratford, were bridesmaids. They were gowned in crystal
