NORMAN LONG KIPPEN Diane McKay, bride-elect has been honored at many parties and showers, prior to her for- thcoming marriage. Mrs. Robert McGregor and group II served refreshments at a shower at Kippen United Church, Monday, when friends and relatives gathered to fete the bride-to-be. Wednesday, Mrs. Grace McEwan, great-aunt of Miss McKay hosted a shower, She was assisted by Mrs. Olive Love, Mrs. Grace Love and Mrs. Anna Moffatt. Another great-aunt, Mrs. Herb Bibby entertained for her Thursday evening. Assisting were Mrs. Helen Hodgert, Mrs. Shirley Brintnell and Mrs. Beatrice Sitt of London. School friends of the bride-elect met at the home of Maureen Connelly Sunday afternoon to present her with many gifts and good wishes. TWO BRIDES-ELECT HONORED Friday evening, neighbors and friends met at the home of Mrs. Robert Kinsman to fete two brides-elect, Doris Riley and Diane McKay. After an amusing program, the brides-to-be were ushered to decorated chairs. Donna Whitehouse read the address and they were given many gifts. The girls thanked the ladies and invited them to their new homes after the weddings. The hostess was assisted in serving lunch by Mrs. Grace Drummond. UNITED CHURCH At the service, Sunday, in St. Andrews United Church, Rev. E. Donald Stuart baptized the following children: Robert William, son of Mr. & Mrs. W. R. Charters; Susan Marie and Patricia Ann, daughters of Mr. & Usborne man named president Bill Routly, road superin- tendent of Usborne township was named president of the Huron County Road Superintendent's Association at the annual meeting held in Bayfield, Thursday. The veteran Usborne road man replaces retiring president Harvey Culbert. Karl Haberer, Hay township road superintendent is the vice- president while Clarence Hanna of East Wawanosh is the secretary-treasurer. Representing the Huron group on the Ontario Road Superin- tendent's Association executive is William Taylor of Stanley township. The auditors are Huron road engineer Jim Britnell and Ross Jackson. PERSONALS Bruce Thomson had the misfortune of having a nail run into his foot while at the barn helping his father do a spring clean-up jobs. He was treated by Dr. Goddard of Hensall. Miss Lois Jackson of London spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Stanley Jackson. Mr. & Mrs. Tom Smith and Joan of Guelph visited Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Wren on Mother's Day. Beatrice Thomson arrived home Thursday nite after spending a couple of days at Camp Sylvan. Mrs. Norman Long arrived home last week after spending the winter in Owen Sound. Her brother, Fred Rowntree, of Penetang accompanied her home and remained for the week. Mrs. Gladys Chambers, Exeter, visited Monday af- ternoon with Mrs. Lewis Kirk. Mr. & Mrs. Eldin Kerr Clinton visited Saturday evening with Mr. & Mrs. Ray Bell. Those assisting were Linda Robinson, Debbie Lewis and Barbara Lewis. Primary and beginners classes also took part. Rev. Johnson gave the address and Carol Robinson acted as organist for the day. Rev. Johnson baptized the infant daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Wesley Hodgson during the service. U.C.W. The May meeting of the U.C.W. was held Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Edwin Morley with a good attendance. The meeting openedbysinging a hymn followed by prayer by Mrs. Jack Trevithick, The scripture reading was read by Kathleen Morley followed by the meditation and a short poem given by Mrs. Trevithick. Mrs. Harvey Steeper also read a poem. A paper on Brazil was given by Mrs. George Lee. Mrs. Fenton welcomed Mrs. Fred Heaman, regional vice president as guest to the meeting. Minutes were read and roll call was answered by 13 members. Mrs. Fenton closed the meeting with a poem. Group I ladies served lunch.
