Progressive Euchre followed with eight tables in play, prizes going to: ladies' high, Mrs. John Scott; men's high, Ken Hodgson; lone hands, Allen Hodgins; consolation, Donna McLellan. Tupling, using the text, 'Where there is no vision, the people perish,' spoke on "Seeing a Little Further." Clandeboye United Church will hold anniversary services Sunday when Rev. Glen Wright Exeter will deliver the sermon. MRS. JACK WHITMORE Mrs. Grace Whitmore passed away in Strathroy General Hospital March 26, 1971 in her 88th year. She was born in Wifbeck, England. She is survived by .her family: Mrs. Palmer Combes, London; William, London; Jack, Ailsa Craig; Gayle at home; and Freddie, Strathroy. Her husband, Jack passed away February 1963. Mrs. Whitmore is also sur- vived by six grandchildren and a brother, Harry, in England. The body rested at the J, C. Murdy Funeral Home, Lucan. JAMES'CHURCH Sunday, Rev. Carson preached on St. Mark. He said Mark was the son of a well-to-do family in Jerusalem, John Mark wrote the gospel that bears his name in Rome in 65 A.D. In this gospel Jesus is shown as 'the True God and True"Man.' Mr. Carson said it is our task as Christians to make this God known. The Anglican Church Women of St. James' Church will meet May 29 at 8:00 p.m. in the home of Mrs. Karl O'Neil, Next Sunday the Service of Holy Communion will be celebrated at 9:45 a.m. in St. James' Church, The Sunday School will meet during the singing of the second hymn. Roy Switzer is a patient in St. Marys Memorial Hospital un- dergoing tests. Rev. King returned home from Toronto General Hospital, Tuesday of this week. Mrs. John Carruthers and family of Stratford visited Sunday afternoon with Mr. & Mrs. Burns Blackler, Jon Troy Edginton, son of Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Edginton was baptized in Holy Trinity Church Lucan, Sunday. The god-parents were Mr. & Mrs. Bill Campbell of London and Mr. & Mrs. Sam Taylor of Clandeboye. The April meeting of Parkhill and Ailsa Craig Dairy Calf Club was held at the home of Danny and Susan Hardy. Jim Tyler, extension assistant, visited the Club and spoke to the members on Dairy Calf Clubs. Mr. & Mrs. Wilfred Logan of Thorndale visited J. H. Paton and William Allwright. Mr, & Mrs. Robert Stevenson, following their wedding in Lucan United Church on Saturday, visited Mrs. J. H. Paton. They were accompanied by Mr, & Mrs. Clare Paton, Jimmy and Darlene. It was a very pleasant surprise for Mrs. Paton who was unable to attend the marriage. By MISS JEAN COPELAND Michael Brine, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Brine, won first prize in piano solo in the eight years and under class, with 81 marks, and third in piano solo, nine years and under with 83 marks, at the Stratford Kiwanis Music Festival. Michael is a pupil of David Strahan. Other students taking vocal solo parts in the Festival from South Perth Centennial School are Lorie Webb, Karen Insley, Pamela Rodd, Cynthia Copeland, Michelle and Anna Hannaberry. David Strahan placed first in piano sight reading-open with a mark of 82 at the Stratford Kiwanis Music Festival. Mrs. Don Brine and Miss Jean Copeland enjoyed a bus trip sponsored by the Happy Travellers of London on Saturday to Kitchener, Hespeler and Guelph. Miss Jean Copeland visited Sunday afternoon with Mr. & Mrs. Adrian Pringle, Terry and Wayne of London. Mrs. Eaton and Mrs. Earl Greenlee, mother of the groom, assisted Carol in greeting the guests. Jean Barker, Nancy and Marylou Tindall were in charge of the guest book and assisted with serving. Four grandmothers and two aunts of the young couple poured tea from an attractively arranged table. Girl friends of Carol displayed the gifts and trousseau. CONFIRMATION Rt, Rev. Bishop Appleyard conducted the service of con- firmation at St. Thomas Church, Granton, Sunday, and was guest speaker. Wayne Cunningham from St. Patricks, Saintsbury, was one of the 11 candidates confirmed. Several members of St. Patricks attended the service.
