A similarly patterned play Put
the Huskies up by two goals.
Captain Bob Woodcock and
Gerry McElwain did the ground
work and Craig Stamp fired the
puck into the net.
The only Hawk goal of the
opening period came rather
unexpectedly. Two Haliburton
defenders became a bit mixed 11P
behind their own net and the puck
slid out in front to Hawk Steve
Marley who easily fired the puck
into the net.
The Hawks drew seven of the
twelve first period penalties.
During the first four minutes of
the second period the Hawks put
out a valiant effort and missed on
three of four golden chances from

score.
After the concerted drive

that combined for the first
Haliburton goal were back in

pentier doing the scoring with
assists going to Derrell Stamp
and Jim Cowan, The goals that
doomed the game for the Hawks
came in a space of 15 seconds
near the end of the second period.
Bev Hicks scored the first with
help from Gerry McElwain and
Jeff Campbell.while Jamie
Carroll notched the second on an
unassisted play.
Penalties were a lot scarcer in
the second period with three
going to the Hawks and two to the
Huskies. All goals were scored
with the teams at full strength.
The third period was a different
story with Exeter getting nailed
for nine penalties with five going
to the home club.
Five goals were scored in the
third, all with at least one of the
opposition in the penalty box.
Derrell Stamp scored twice for
the Huskies in the final period
with singles coming from the
sticks of John Parish and Gerry
McElwain.
Bob Rowe slapped in the final
Exeter marker at 6.31 on a play
originated by the defence pair of
Mike Hoy and Joe O'Rourke,
Hawk coach Bob White was
ejected from the game near the
halfway mark after a succession
of four penalties to his club in
three minutes and one second.
White gave a 'choke' sign toward
the officials and was banished.
