Mrs. Tom Hodgins, Mrs. Evan Hodgins and Mrs. Eldon Hodgson provided lunch. Euchre was played and the following were the winners of prizes: ladies' high, Lon Phillips (on a ladies' card); ladies' low, Mrs. Cowan; men's high, Mrs. Toohey (on a man's card); men's low, Hilson Grose. The theme of the meeting was "Public Relations." Convener was Mrs. Susie Devine, who presented the motto, 'We must not fear change it is the essence of life.' Roll call was answered by, A way to promote Public Relations. Mrs. Leroy Bariteau conducted the installation of new officers for '71: past president, Mrs. Wm Love; president, Mrs. Ed Gill; 1st vice president, Mrs. Alex Hamilton; 2nd vice president, Mrs. Olive Miller; secretary- treasurer, Mrs. Hugh Morenz; assistant, secretary-treasurer, Mrs. Frank Plumb, Bran& directors, Mrs. Verne Ridley, Mrs. Wellwood Gill and Mrs. Wm Love; district direc- tor, Mrs. Nola Taylor. Conveners of standing com- mittees; agriculture and Canadian industry, Mrs. Carmen Lovie; citizenship, Mrs. Frank Plumb; health, Mrs. Wm. Webb; curator, Mrs. R. Kading; horticultural, Mrs. C. Love, The ladies sold a triple Irish chain quilt to Mrs. P. Sandilands for $100.00. This will be donated to the medical centre fund, Mrs. Sandilands hopes to have this quilt on display in the new trade post store this summer and will sell tickets on it, the proceeds also going to the medical centre. 4-H The 4-H girls held their eighth meeting Monday evening in the United Church. The meeting opened with the repeating of their pledge, Eleven girls were present and answered the roll with showing the summer outfit each made as their project, The girls judged their own outfit. April 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the United Church, the girls will entertain the ladies of the W.I. who are their sponsors. The girls will have on display their completed garments and their record books. A skit will also be presented. ORPHA The Orpha Club met at the home of Mrs. Arthur Lee Tuesday evening with 22 present. Mrs. Jack Allister opened the meeting reading "At Days End." All the sewing which consisted of baby's layette, crib quilts, girls dresses and boys pants and tops and a variety of knitting which the ladies were busy doing all winter were on display. Mrs. Etta Baker made seven crib quilts and the ladies agreed that four would go to the Childrens Aid in Goderich and three to Sarnia along with the Orpha display. During the business session a date was set for the pot luck dinner, May 18, at the home of Mrs. Wallis Desjardine Sr. Final arrangements were made to entertain the senior citizens. Wednesday afternoon. At the close of the meeting a fancy cushion donated by Mrs. Etta Baker was raffled and won by Mrs. Susie Devine. Dobson installed two newly elected members to the church session namely, Mrs, Clarke Kennedy and Morley Desjardine. Wellwood Gill was re-elected. The Committee of Stewards consists of Mr. & Mrs. Leroy Keyes (Sec.-treas.) H. Ratz, W. Gill, M. Venner, and " Mrs. R. Kading (U,C.W.) re-elected. The U.C.W. are hoping for a good attendance at their rum- mage sale April 23, 2-5 and 7-9 to be held in the Church Sunday School room. PERSONALS Mrs. Don Flear and Mrs. Roy Flear entertained for bride-elect, Mary Lynne Kennedy, Friday evening at the Don Flear residence on Woodward Ave., with a miscellaneous shower. Mrs, Mansell Mason is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital London. UNITED CHURCH NEWS Rev. W. C, Tupling was in charge of the morning service at Lucan United Church, last Sunday. Miss Kathryn Wor- thington was the organist. The following young people were received into the church by profession of faith: Robert Barr, Thomas Hearn, Diane Leitch, Donna Leitch, Allen Melanson, Jeffrey Park, Ronald Simpson, James Thompson and Janice Walker. The sacrament of Holy Com- munion was observed. Sunday, May 2, is Clandeboye United Church anniversary and service at Lucan United Church will be withdrawn on that day. UCW The United Church Women held their regular meeting in the C. E. building of the church, Tuesday, with 14 ladies present, and the president, Mrs. M. H. Hodgins in the chair, The worship service was conducted by Mrs. William Froats, with Bible reading by Mrs. Duncan McPhee. Lynn Emery and Patti Fisher sang a solo accompanied by Joan Lockyer on the piano. Lynn Melanson and, Joan Lockyer gave a talk on the 3-day course they had attended at the Sacred Heart Seminary "Live- In". Mrs. C. H. George gave a report on the meeting of the Centennial Committee, and Mrs. Sheridan Revington was ap- pointed official representative for future meetings. Mrs. W. C. Tupling gave a report on the Learning for Lent series. Mrs. Froats spoke on life in Brazil, illustrated by pictures and slides. Steer This Way BY LARRY SNIDER The windshield wiper may soon be gone. At a banquet held last Wed- nesday evening for those who attended the senior operation course held in Toronto, Wm. Sturdevant was presented with his waterworks certificate for attaining the highest marks for basic and intermediate courses. Over 100 waterworks operators attended this course. Mr, & Mrs. Herb Pfile are in London at the home of their son. They are keeping house while Mr. & Mrs. D. Pfile are attending the Memphis Fair. Donna Sturdevant entertained for Mary Lynne Kennedy with a miscellaneous shower last Saturday evening in the newly built home of Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Sturdevant. Mrs. J. L. Fisher, Mrs. Fred Windsor and Mrs. John Park provided lunch, and social half- hour was enjoyed. ANGLICAN The Sunday School will meet at 9:45 a.m. April 25.
