Over two hundred attended the two day session. Mrs. Gordon Schwalm, childrens secretary of the Synodical conducted the workshop with the secretaries, leaders and councillors. She also introduced the Leaders and Children who sang and did skits in the evening program. Mrs. R. A. Orr also attended as a delegate from Carmel Presbyterian Church Hensall, Mrs, Harry Strang, Exeter, literature secretary of Hamilton London-Synodical looked after the book display. They were married at the home of the bride's parents, the late Mr. & Mrs, Robert Parsons, of the South boundry of Stanley Township, April 19, 1921. After the wedding the couple settled on the groom's farm, concession IV, Usborne, where they farmed until retiring to Hensall 12 years ago. Mr. & Mrs. Ferguson have three sons: Russell and Lloyd of Usborne, and Howard of Thamesford, and one daughter, Mrs. Grant (Velma) Gowanlock of Lambeth. They also have 12 grandchildren. Minister's wife receives present Chiselhurst U.C.W. met April 14 when Mrs. Alvin Cole presided for the meeting. Mrs. Percy Wright gave the worship and Mrs. A. Ross read a poem. Mrs. Clarence Coleman gave the study on politics, develop: ment and change. Mrs. Harold Currie led the group with a new song, "0 Lord, All the World Belongs to You." Mrs. Currie was honored with a surprise gift prior to her leaving in June. The ladies will cater to a wedding in June and an invitation to attend a Blossom Tea at Centralia United Church May 12 was received. Mrs. R. Taylor and Mrs. E, Dick were hostesses. Confirmation The following young people ,who have been meeting together over the past few months con- sidering the meaning and pur- pose of the Christian life and of Church membership were con- firmed in a confirmation service at the United Church Sunday morning last. They are: Joan Lillian Alexander, Judith Elizabeth Mickle, William Roy Consitt, Donald Patrick Joynt, Paul Douglas Reaburn, William Joseph Rowcliffe, Scott Collier Smith and Paul Anthony Kyle, Hensall Womens Institute met in the Legion Hall April 14 for their annual meeting, President Mrs, James McAllister presided and introduced district president, Mrs. Delbert Geiger, of Zurich, who brought greetings from the District. She also read a poem, "The Ten Commandments for Institute Members," and NEW MINISTER: Rev. Donald Beck has been named minister of Hensall and Chiselhurst United Churches. Mr. Beck is married with five children and has served at Bayfield United Church for five years. The induction service will be announced later. He replaces Rev. Harold Currie who will become minister at Sebringvidle United Church, July 1. ACW plan smorgasbord The regular meeting of the A.C.W. of St. Pauls Anglican Church was held April 15 at the home of Miss Florence Petty. The president, Mrs. W. Scrabuik, opened the meeting and minutes were read and roll call answered by naming a musical instrument found in the Bible. The members were reminded of the A.C.W. annual meeting to be held in London, April 29. Mrs. Scrabuik reported the purchase of an electric range. Conveners were appointed for the smorgasbord to be held May 8. Mrs. Anderson took the topic, Being Sent; Mrs. Scrabuik read devotions from Living Message and Mrs. Anderson closed with prayer. A motion was passed to join the Association for the Mentally Retarded. Mrs. R. Elgie and Mrs. T. Sherritt to convene the dinner for the District Annual, May 20. Miss Amy Lammie chaired the program, highlite of which was a discussion of hobbies. Taking part were Mrs. John Skea, Mrs. J. Corbett, Miss Lammie, Mrs. R. Simpson. Mrs. W. Dining gave curtesy remarks. Program convener was Miss Lammie; hostesses were Mrs. E. Kippen East WI The Kippen East W.I. had an enjoyable time Wednesday evening when they had dinner at the Dominion Hotel, Zurich. The losing side for the attendance entertained the winners with games and cards. Tea planned , at Huronview April 19, the monthly meeting of Huronview Home Auxiliary was held in the craft room. Plans were made for the Blossom Tea celebrating the 12th anniversary of the auxiliary, to be held May 12. Several new members joined the auxiliary for the coming year. Chester Archibald, ad- ministrator, conducted the in- stallation of officers, which were as follows: honorary presidents, Mrs. F. G. Thompson, Mrs. Harvey Johnston; past president, Mrs. Mamie Sutcliffe; president, Mrs. W. Colclough; first vice president, Mrs. Keith Webster; second vice president, Mrs. E. Howatt. The Hensall Ladies Curling Club ended the season with a dinner at the Pine Ridge Chalet. Helen Scane presided in the place of president, Lucille Beer. She thanked the outgoing president and secretary- treasurer for their year's work. Joyce Pepper acting as secretary-treasurer gave the financial report. Maple leaf sterling pins were presented to the first and second place team. Placing first was the Scane rink skipped by Helen Scene. Edgar Munn is a patient in South Huron Hospital Exeter where he is receiving treatment. Mrs. F. G. Bonthron and Mrs. Bertha MacGregor visited this week with Mrs. Pearl Baynham and Colleen in London. Mrs. Bruce Walker was ad- mitted to South Huron Hospital, Exeter, this week. Mr. & Mrs. Charles Eckel and family of Zurich visited this week with Mrs. Eckel's parents Mr. & Mrs. Blighton Ferg, Mrs. Edward Stan of London entertained at a miscellaneous shower for Mrs, James Stan (nee Kassies) of Hensall, a recent bride who received many lovely gifts. Pauline Ingram skipped the second team with Vera Drysdale, Marietta Bilke and Jennie Kipfer as team members. Marg Consitt was elected to serve as president for the 1971-72 season and Fran Mickle was elected as secretary-treasurer. The ladies agreed they had had a successful season and are looking forward to getting more ladies curling next fall. Other members were Marg Consitt, Fran Mickle and Shirley Ferguson. It is expected that it will take approximately three weeks to complete the necessary calls, The information required is basically the same as that required last year, and is necessary for the completion of the assessment roll for each municipality. All enumerators involved in this programme carry identification cards, so please do not hesitate to ask to see these before answering questions or divulging any information. Your co-operation and assistance in this programme will be very much appreciated.
