MAN DIES
Alva Hutchinson, 28, PasSed
away in Preston following a
lingering illness. He was born
and lived in Dashwood as a boy,
Surviving besides his wife are
two children, Lisa and Dean; his
parents, Mr. & Mrs. Ernest
Hutchinson, Ohio; one sister
(Ruby) Mrs. Melvin Sherwood,
Alberta. The funeral was held in
Preston, Tuesday April 13.

Church presented -the Good
Friday Service in the form of a
Courtroom scene "Who Killed
Jesus Christ?" All the young
people took part. The wooden
cross was brought down at the
close of the service and anyone in
the audience was given a chance
to renew his faith by approaching
the cross and many drove a nail
in it.
SUNRISE SERVICE
The 3W's Sunday School class
was in charge of a special Sunrise
Service and breakfast Easter
Sunday. Gary Eagleson spoke on
"Population Control," He said
"you often hear the expression he
acted likean animal. Animals act
on God's laws which is called
instinct while people act in a
selfish manner,"

The annual meeting of Dash-
wood W.I. was held April 7.
Roll call was to name an Indian
Reserve in Canada and dues.
Mrs, Howard Maier, president,
dealt with the business. It was
decided to sponsor a child for the
coming year.
A Food Forum will be held in
Clinton April 22 and a short
course on needle craft is
scheduled for April 20 and 21 at
Dashwood Community Centre,
The Institute will sponsor a
recital for the pupils of Miss
Idella Gabel.
The ladies and husbands or a
friend will tour Dashwood
Industries and have dinner.

committees. Mrs. Glen Webb
presided for the election of of-
ficers; past president, Mrs. Glen

Mrs, Hugh Boyle was in charge
of the topic which was a tape by
Hugh's cousin Doug Murray, who
is a teacher in the United Church
School at Sandy Lake. He related
his experience among the Indians
and told of their conditions. His
plans is to go to the North West
Territories to teach the Eskimos.
Secret pals were revealed
with a small gift and new secret
pals were given out.
The executive served lunch.

April 7 the afternoon branch of
the Anglican Church Women met
in the home of Mrs. Gladys
Atkinson.
Thera]] call was answered by a
verse of scripture with the word
joy in it. Mrs. Harold Hodgins
read a paper. Mrs. Harold
Corbett led in a word game, The
prize was won by Violet Hardy.
Mrs. Gladys Atkinson passed
around a box and the members
were asked to guess how many
articles were in it. Florence
Hodgins and Mrs, Earl Atkinson
were the winners,_
Easler Sunday, thirty people
attended the sunrise service at
6:00 a,m. They had coffee after in
the church hall served by Julie
Henderson.
Good Friday the cantata
'Olivet to Calvary' was sung by
the choir under the direction of
William Loosemore.
UNITED CHURCH
An impressive service was held
at Lucan United Church, Good
Friday evening under the
direction of Rev. W. C. Tupling,
whose sermon was entitled,
"Were You there?"
For Easter Sunday morning,
Rev, W. C. Tupling entitled his
sermon, "The Empty Tomb".
Next Sunday prayer and
baptism will be held.
CATHOLIC WOMEN'S LEAGUE
The Catholic Women's League
of St. Patrick's Church held their
regular monthly meeting in the
St. Patrick's auditorium, April 6.
