night classes, these ladies turned out their first simple-to,sew-outfits.

Night school classes of South
Huron District High Sehpol came
to an end last week with a
showing of garments made by the
five levels of the sewing classes,
Several of the sewers have
progressed year by year from
rank beginners, when some of
them could seemly thread a
sewing machine needle, up to the
highest level, tailoring II, where
this year they turned out coats
and suits worthy to be shown in
any high class fashion shop.
Others just began their ad-
ventures into home sewing by
constructing simple garments
like pyjamas, skirts and blouses
Still others were somewhere
between the beginning stages and
the professional finesse of the
final class.
The show proved what can be
accomplished over a period of
five years if the home-sewer will
stick with the courses for that
length of time,
When the ladies came out on
the ramp wearing the clothes
they had fashioned this winter
one sensed in them a feeling of
pride and accomplishment.
It was hard .to believe the
stunning fashions, in beautiful
materials sewn, in the tailoring
classes, were homemade,
Nifty little dresses, made by
the intermediate levels were
Lodge to attend
many meetings
The Rebekahs met in the lodge
rooms, April 7, with Mrs. Gladys
Skinner, Noble Grand, presiding.
Various reports were given and
an invitation was extended to the
Ilderton Lodge to attend the
banquet, April 21.
Notification was received that
Mrs. Ruby Bell of Amber Lodge,
Hensall has been elected to
District Deputy President for the
new term.
Members will attend a meeting
at Edelweiss Lodge, Seaforth,
April 12; Morning Star Lodge,
Brussels, April 13; and Ruth
Rebekah Lodge, Stratford, May
7.
Mrs. Louise Oke is in charge of
the tickets on a lamp or plant
draw.
After the business Laurie and
Steven Skinner provided piano-
accordion and piano solos.

The executive of the 'Snappy
Separate Sewers' of Hurondale 4-
H homemaking club consists of
president, Debbie Potter; vice-
president, Susan Tuckey and
press reporter, Susan Davis, The
leaders are Mrs. W. Tuckey and
Mrs. B, Skinner,
The seventh meeting was held
at the home of Mrs, Tuckey with
roll call, "One thing I have
learned from this project", an-
swered by 14 members.
Mrs. Tuckey demonstrated a
slip-stitch and blind hem.
The final meeting of the club
will be April 18 at Mrs. Skinner's
home when the club members
will model their separates for
summer.
Jim Carscadden, Montreal,
and Philip Osborne, Auckland,
New Zealand, spent Easter
holidays with Mr, & Mrs, Eric
Carscadden. Good Friday
Visitors were Mr. & Mrs. Larry
Idle and Tracy, of Ingersoll,
Easter visitors with Mr. & Mrs.
Robert Grant and family were
their daughter-in-law, Mrs.
Louise Cairnie, and grandson
&Army of Ottawa.
The winner of $50 worth of
groceries sponsored by Exeter
Teen Town was Bob Layc,
Exeter.
Mart too, and even the simply
styled garments from the
beginners showed class,
Teachers and commentators
for each class were: level I,
teacher Mrs. Marian Dpugall,
commentator, Dorothy Insley;
level 2, teacher Mrs. Lois
Armstrong, commentator, Mrs.
Anmarie Hoffman; level '3,
teacher, Mrs. Elva Routly,
commentator, Mrs. Sharon
Jesney; level Iv, teacher Mrs.
Shirley Perry, commentator,
Mrs. many Fran Geiser; level V,
teacher, Mrs. Shirley McAllister,
commentator, Mrs. Pearl .Gans.

Westman were also .exhibited,
During intermission the large
audience was ,entertained by the
singing of Mrs. Robert Hoffman
and the winning public speech of
Kathy Simmons.'
Collection amounting to $02,82
was donated to the Association
for the Mentally Retarded.
Mr. and Mrs. 'Harvey L. Hill,
Carling Street, Exeter,
celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary April 13, at a tea in
the Canadian Legion, Saturday,
Two neices, Mrs. Arnold
Wasnidge and Mrs, Hugh Adair
served the refreshments.
The Hills have one daughter,
Mrs. Thomas L. Green, St.
Thomas, and one grand
daughter, Deborah.
Mrs. Hill is the former Hazel
daughter_ef, , are ,late
homes and Ada Bisset of
lieu; and iS the Son of
the late William and Angelina
Hill of Crediton.
The attendants at their wed-
ding were Herbert Bissett,
brother of the bride, and Mrs.
Otis (Verna) Wright, sister of the
groom,
After their marriage the couple
resided in Big Valley, Alta. for a
period of time.
During the First World War
Mr. Hill served as a dispatch
rider in the signal corps heavy
artillery. He was employed with
the Canadian.Pacific Railway for
36 years, mostly in the London
' area, before retiring in 1956.

SENIORS: These two ladies have graduated from the highest level of
sewing, tailoring II. The coat and suit they constructed could have
been purchased from a high fashion clothing store. They are Alma
Turnbull, Grand Bend and Mrs. Russell Broderick, Exeter.
