By MRS. DIARKE KENNEDY
G RAND BEND
Tuesday afternoon, Children's
Story hour was held at the
library.
The idea developed from
librarian Mrs. Elmer Desjardine
who has been getting ideas by
attending work shops sponsored
by the Lambton County Library
Board.
Mrs. Ron Brophy of Parkhill,
and who teaches school in
Strathroy, showed the children
slides of her trip to Point Barrow,
Alaska, and Rev, E. Willis
showed slides of scenery in and
around Sudbury,
Bob Hamilton, who assists the
librarian, entertained the
children with a game. Nancy
Paterson read the children a
story about the Eskimos,
Crafts were enjoyed with Clean
Clay when the children made
animals of the north.
SENIOR CITIZENS
The Senior Citizens were en-
tertained Wednesday in the
United Church by the W.I. There
were twenty-five present and
Mrs. E. Gill welcomed the guests,
A singsong was enjoyed with
the singing of the old time tunes.
Following this the group played
games, crokinole, Chinese
checkers, etc,
Mrs. Alex Hamilton gave a
monologue impersonating a.
lonely man, sitting in his
favourite chair enjoying the
newspaper, elbow out of his shirt
and the toes out of hiS socks;
neglected because his wife was so
busy .attending to the Institute.
Mrs. Lloyd Baker, dressed in old-
time costume read a poem en-
titled, Get up and Go.
The group was served lunch
and Mrs. Jack Mennel thanked.
the ladies for their hpspitality,
The next get-te-getter for the
senior citizens will be April 21
when the Orpha Club will en-
tertain at the Legion Hall,
The Senior Citizens have been
entertained by churches and
organizations of the village
throughout the winter months.
They now feel it is time to
organize on their own. They were
asked to think it over until the
April meeting and decide for
their future.
C OF C
The Grand Bend and area
Chamber of Commerce met in
the village hall Monday evening.
Jack Mennel chaired the meeting
due to the absence of the

The secretary presented a
letter of resignation from the vice
president, Ted Flint. Due to other
important commitments with
the Ambulance service Mr. Flint
felt he .couldn't devote the time to
the Chamber business,
resignation was accepted with
regret.
Reports of committees were
given and the new brochure
should be ready for distribution
shortly.
Jack Mennel was appointed
responsible for presentation of
plaque for the first large boat
staying overnight when the
tourist season opens up.

Plumb are a committee to install
Beach Bench signs.
Mr. Mennel reported briefly on
a meeting on Tourism held in
Stratford that he and Mr.
