Mrs. Hazel Mitchell of London
visited over the weekend with

family.
Mrs. Stanley Mitchell of
Hensall is visiting with Mr. &
Mrs. Elgin Hendrick for a few
days. Mrs. Hendrick is con-
valescing at her home after
having been in hospital.
Church held a social evening at
the home of Mr. & Mrs. Ken
McCrae, March 3. The evening
was spent playing billiards and
darts.
Officers for the year elected
are: president, Jack Gaiser;
vice-president, Stanley Haist;
secretary, Mrs, Lloyd Guenther;
social committee, Mrs, Jack
Gaiser, Mrs. Don Bender, and
Norma Weigand. Lunch brought
the evening to a close,

The community was saddened
last Thursday by the death of
Lawrence Mason, He will be
missed by everyone, but
especially by the young hockey
enthusiasts of our village. The
Mason garage was the meeting
place and stopping off place for
all the games played. No one

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER
The World Day Prayer service
held in the church of God March 8
' was well attended.
Five denominations par-
ticipated in the service and Mrs.
E. J, Wattam was soloist.
Mrs. Arthur Krueger of Owen
Sound was guest speaker. The
theme, A New People For A New
Age, was ably presented by the
speaker.
A friendly social hour was
enjoyed following the,service, the
Church of God ladies serving

4-H CLUB
Club No. I of 4-H girls for the
project, Separates for Summer,
with leaders Mrs. Gordon Bender
and Mrs. Lloyd Beaver held their
organizational meeting at the
home of Mrs. Bender.
Officers elected were
president, Beverly Stire; vice-
president, Miriam Rasenberg;
secretary, Carol Masse;
treasurer and press reporter,
Judy Guy.
The girls decided to call their
club, Dashwood Darting
Seamsters.
At their second meeting in-
struction on using and altering
the patterns were given. The girls
are to have their material and
patterns for the next meeting.

wood W.I. was held March 2 with
the Home Economics and Health
group in charge and Mrs. John
Rader convener.
Roll call was answered by
giving a health rule in our house.
Mrs. Earl Keller discussed the
motto, There is no better
exercise for the heart than
reaching out to help others.
Mrs. John Rader read a poem
and Cathy Becker favoured with
two piano solos.
Guest speaker was public
health nurse, Mrs. Gerald
Martene. She shc, wed a film on
drugs followed by a talk and
distributed pamphlets to the
ladies,
President, Mrs. Howard Maier,
dealt with the business, A bir-
thday gift was sent to the spon-
sored girl in India. Members
were asked to bring a 50 cent gift
to the next meeting for secret pal
and also to bring annual reports,
The Institute members and
husbands will dine and tour
Dashwood Industries April 27 at
6:30 p.m,
The short course on needlecraft
will be held April 20 and 21 at
D.C.C; The Institute will canvass
for the Red Cross.

evening which had been posponed
due to inclement weather.

The 4-H girls held their meeting
in the United Church Monday
evening. The president Brenda
Taylor presided.
The leader, Mrs. M. Venner,
explained stay stitching, darts,
and laying on pattern. The
balance of the meeting was spent
on practise work on garments.
Assistant leader, Mrs. Howard
Green was helping the girls. The
meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
