Association group semi-final
series by •edging the Elmira
Polar Kings 44 in Elmira,
Wednesday night and trouncing
the same Oak 9-2 at Huron Park,
Friday night.
The fourth game of the series
was played in Elmira last night,
Wednesday,
If the Jets were victorious in
sweeping the series they will
meet the rough and tough
Durham Huskies in the first
game of the league final at Huron
Park, friday night at 8:20.
An Elmira win last night would
extend the set and the Kings
would be at Huron Park, Friday
night. Regardless of the outcome
of the fourth game of the Elmira
series, the Jets will be on Huron
Park ice, Friday night,
Even scoring
The Jets 'scored three goals in
each period as they trounced the
Kings 9-2, Friday.
Tim Burkhart took a pass from
Eric Plein at 6:13 of the first
period to put the puck behind Don
Stewart in the L-I goal for the
first score of the game.
In a space of three minutes late
in the period, the Jets found the
scoring range three times and
were never headed.
Defenceman Bill DunrAl tied
the count on it pass from Barry
Irwin, Bill White tallied on an
unassisted effort and Irwin
scored on a play started by Larry
flossack.
Captain Doug Galloway took
over scoring command in the
middle session and blinked the
light on two occasions. The other
goal came from the stick Of
Dunnell for his second score of
the night. Second period assists
went to Dunnell, Hossack and
Jamie Robb.
The final Elmira scoring play
was a three-way combination,
early in the second with Don
Duke scoring from Jim borscht
and Tim Burkhart,
The third ,period Jet counting
was taken care of by Dick
Doughty, Barry Irwin and Jamie
Robb.
The Jets received 14 penalties,
all minors while the Kings were
only called for six infractions.
Third period scoring
Most of the scoring in the 4-1
Jets win over Elmira was con-
fined to the third period.
The only score of the opening
session came from the stick of
13111 White with line-mates Dick
Doughty and Barry Irwin
assisting.
In the second period it was the
same three-way combination
with Irwin finalizing the effort
tipping in a shot by Doughty.
The third period was only a
minute old when Bill White
notched his second goal of the
game, this time on a solo dash.
At 13:53, Ron Esch dented the
L-I twine with the only Elmira
score of the night and less than
three minutes later Jamie Robb
wound things up with an
unassisted score.
The game was a cleanly played
contest with only nine penalties
being called, five to the Jets.
One finalist in
Ausable rec loop
One of the finalists for the
Ausable Rec hockey league
championship was decided
Sunday night while at least one
more game will be needed to
name the other opponent.
Shipka downed Ailsa Craig 5-3
to win their best-of-five series in
three straight games.
The Brinsley Bombers bounced
back to dump Lieury by an 8-1
count to stay in the running in the
other semi-final round. Lieury
won the first two contests and the
fourth will go at the Exeter
arena, Sunday night at eight
o'clock,
Mike Glavin scored three times
to lead the Brinsley team in their
necessary win. Lloyd Mathers
was close behind with a two goal
Minor Hockey Day was ob-
served in Exeter Saturday with a
full day of activities that drew
good crowds throughout the
afternoon and evening.
The full day comprising an
even dozen games started at nine
o'clock in the morning and
concluded about 13 hours later.

One of the feature attractions
of the day was the first game of
the Ontario Minor Hockey
Association between the Exeter
and Petrolia novice clubs.
The Exeter youngsters broke
loose with two goals late in the
third period to post a 4-2 victory.
The opening all-star game at
twelve noon saw Goderich down
the Exeter pee wees by a score of
4-2 on two third period scores.

Harvey Martin was the lone
goal getter for Lieury.
Randy Becker was the only
double Shipka scorer while John
Becker, Barry Clarke and Rene

Craig while Charlie Eedy picked
up the odd counter.
Combines in
double series
The Zurich Combines com-
peting in two playoff series are up
a game in one set and down in the
other.
In Ontario Rural Hockey
Association "B" quarter final
play, the Combines lost to
Plattsville 10-9 last week and
must win in the second contest of
a best-of-three series slated for
the Zurich arena, Friday night at
8.30.
A Zurich win would force a
third game and it would go
Saturday night, also in Zurich at
the same time.
The Combines downed
Harriston 4-2 Tuesday night in
the first game of a Western
Ontario Athletic Association
Intermediate "C" best-of-five
series.
The second game was in
Harriston last night, Wednesday.
The third contest is back in
Zurich Sunday afternoon at two
o' clock.
Bob Buchanan scored two goals
to lead the Zurich win over
Harriston. Scoring singles were
Gary Watts and Glen Overholt.
In the loss to Plattsville, Dennis
Morrissey, Fred Lamb and Bill
Chipchase each notched
two scores for Zurich. Counting
singletons were Glen Overholt,
Bob Merner and Gary Watts.

novice club.

goal effort while singles were
fired by Paul Theander, Mark
Beer and Robert Regier.

Canucks took a 6-3 setback from
Boston. Boston goals were scored
by Darrell Preszcator with a
"hat trick" and singles scored by
Dennis Preszcator, David
Robinson and captain Brad

In the second game the Black
Hawks shut out the Road Run-
ners 2-0. David Bogart and Danny
Bell scored the goals,
In Squirt hockey the Gold tied
the Blue 1-1. The Blue goal was
scored by Ian Boyle. Mark
Parsons scored the single Gold
goal.
In Pee Wee houseleague
because the all stars were away

were Hugh Ryan, Bob Stock and
Dave Regier,
Scoring the lone Exeter goal
was Steve Harrison.
After four consecutive losses,
the Exeter novice club won their
game over Petrolia at four
o'clock and changed the luck of
the home clubs.
The Exeter mites followed with
a close 3-2 win over Huron Park.
Goals in the first and second
periods by David Bell and Larry
Dawson and an early third period
score by Doug Brooks gave
Exeter a three goal lead before
the visitors hit the scoreboard.
In the last six minutes of play,
Huron Park scored twice on goals
by Jerry McCann and Steve
McCann to make the closing
minutes of the game exciting.
The Exeter win string con-
tinued as the bantams downed
London Southwest 4-2 in the
second last game of the day.
Steve Schroeder led the Exeter
scoring from his defence position
with a two goal performance.
Scoring one goal each were Brad
Daters and Wayne Regier.
Scoring for London were Bob
Boyd and Don Geddes.
Scoring was scarce in the last
game of the night with the Exeter
midgets edging Hensall 1-0. The
only goal of the game came from
the stick of John Muller with
assists going to Peter Gill and
Robbie Lindenfield.
