`Fairs for '71' is the theme of
the annual convention of the
Ontario Association of
Agricultural Societies, to be held
at the King Edward Hotel in
Toronto, February 24 and 25.
Agricultural Societies have
played an important role it2, the
history"-dr• 'the. Province

spite of the changing face of
agriculture. Meeting the
challenges posed by change will
be among the many topics
discussed by more than 800
delegates from all parts of
Ontario.
Among the special speakers
for the convention are Hon.
William A. Stewart, Ontario
Minister of Agriculture and Food,
and John Fisher.
Representing the Exeter Fair
board at the two-day event are
Bob Down, Mrs. Ross Skinner and
Mrs. Bev Skinner.
Dairy meetings
at Centralia
Information meetings that
will be of interest to every milk
producer in Huron County have
been arranged. The entire farm
family is invited to come out
and join in the discussions.
The program has been
organized as a joint effort by the
Huron County Dairy committees
and association. The meetings
will be held at Centralia College
of Agricultural Technology.

Women held their meeting
Tuesday afternoon.
President, Mrs. Don Gaiser,
opened the business by reading a
Bible verse.
It was decided to participate
in the United Nations
Association, 'A Penny a Day for
Peace' project.
Mrs. Gaiser, Mrs. Gordon
Bender, Mrs. Eben Weigand and
Mrs. E. R. Guenther went by bus
to the Huron-Perth annual
presbytery meeting at Mitchell,
February 17.
The U.C.W. will present a
program at the Bluewater Rest
Home in March.
Prepare, be aware
farm show theme
"Be Prepared By Being
Aware" is the theme for the 1971
Farm Show, to be held at the
Western Fair Grounds Mar. 2, 3, 4
and 5. Four special theatre
programs highlight the four-day
show, as a serious look is taken at
the modem-day farmer and his
problems, opportunities and
future.
The very latest in farm
equipment and modern
machinery will be on display, as
well as hundreds of home and
farm equipment exhibits. Special
films, baking exhibits and
demonstrations will also be
featured.
Beauty and charm take the
spotlight on Tuesday evening
when 21 attractive young ladies
compete for the title of Farm
Show Princess. Immediately
following the crowning, fashions
galore take the stage.
Farm Show '71, four exciting
days for the entire family. March
2 to 5 in the Progress Building and
grandstand at the Western Fair
grounds in London. The show
opens at 10:30 a.m. daily with
adult admission $1.00 and
children under 14 accompanied
by an adult admitted free.

book topic on Inner American

Eighteen tables were in play
at the euchre sponsored by
Dashwood W,I. Tuesday.
Winners were: ladies, Mrs.
Ted Steinbach, and men, Elgin
Rader; low, Mrs. Wm. Davidson
and Ervin Devine; lone hands,
Sid Baker.
LADIES AID
The February meeting of
Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid was
held Wednesday with group II
and Mrs. Ernest IC.cehler
convener in charge of devotions
and lunch.
Pastor Steinman took as the
topic, "Speak but also Listen".
This was a question and answer
period using the Bible as
reference. Rick Hayter played
two piano solos.
President, Mrs. James Hayter,
presided for the business. The
family night supper planned for
February 28 will start at 6:30
p.m. The visiting committee
reported fifteen calls. The altar
guild is Mrs. Albert Miller and
Mrs. Marie Restemayer.
The L.W.M.L. is holding a
prayer service Monday March 29,
with the theme, "Riised to Sit
Together in Heavenly Places".
Mrs. Hayter requested good
used clothing for the Children's
Aid, especially for children. She
also gave out material to make
pyjamas.
Mrs. Charles Martene
conducted closing devotions.

Wilmer Pfaff has returned
home from St. Joseph's
Hospital, London, following a
knee operation.

with Mr. & Mrs. Valentine
Becker and family.

family gathered at the home of
Mr. & Mrs. Garnet Willert
Monday evening in honor of his
80th birthday, Feb. 27. Present for
the occasion were Mr. & Mrs,
Adolph Keller, Mr. & Mrs. Aaron
Restemayer, Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd
Rader, Mr. & Mrs. Percy Willert,
Zurich, and Mr. & Mrs. 'Lorne
Devine. The evening was spent
visiting and playing crokinole.
